Improving on the meter

Thanks I'll try that. Almost considering just doing a big *** 10 inch port tbh

they're out of business

driver/port placement and being tuned for daily im guessing. maybe the box is too small, but ive had a few people tell me these subs want 3.5 cubes not 4.5 cubes so idfk
Is the opening of the port near the sub? Got any pics to show how it installed in the vehicle?

Picked up an 8 inch sonotube, going to make it something like 15 inches, then 12, then 10 and see what happens

7.5 cubes, more port area. Should see some gains.
yeah, tempting to say **** it and give it a **** ton of airspace lol maybe I'll make the box for the 2 15's ~14 cubes net and shrink it as necessary

Made the port and since it's a long tube I made it as long as I could fit just for the hell of it lol ended up being 34 inches which puts it somewhere around 28-30hz tuning depending on actual airspace.

Definitely noticed a difference but nowhere near the lows I wanted to have for fun but that'd require a 40-45 inch port. Maybe 2-3 db gain down low while the top rolled off sooner.

I'm pretty much done for today as it's drinking time but tomorrow I'll cut it down all the way to 15 inches and see what happens, then 12, and then 10.

If anyone can think of a reason why I should try anywhere between 18 - 34 inches before I do that let me know. The current octo was 18 inches so no point in trying that again

Why not try something like 24 inches, in the middle of what you have already done, then go to 15 etc.

not a bad idea, i'll give it a try. it certainly isn't as much upper end response loss as i expected but i only listened to a few songs

You should try cutting it however much it takes to raise tuning 5hz at a time, take a response curve picture of each for your notes and also do some listening with a wide variety of music. Well worth testing just for your own reference.

Considered just doing a few inches at a time but it's not worth the effort for what I want, but it's a good idea so thank you

I cut it all the way down to 14 inches, and guess what? I lost 2-3 db's LOL this could be due to a variety of factors but it is what it is. I bet my truck just likes to peak at 36-40hz, because the peak was still at ~37hz with rolloff above 45-50hz. Louder up there now, but not by much. It does model with a bigger peak when tuned higher, but I guess my truck just smooths it out

Going to go down to 10 inches and see what happens next.

5hz increments in tuning is usually where you can hear a difference. Did you meter all the way up past 60hz looking for another peak? If you see a high point at all up higher (response curve like a two hump camel)? Might could be that higher point will get louder on FULL POWER since you won't run out of excursion. Anyway, live and learn. I can't believe anything is peaking so low, have you talked to other people that compete in that same style/year truck?

I don't know anyone with a setup like this tbh

I'll try all the way up at 60hz, but the rolloff seems so steep I can't believe it'd work. I believe it has to do with how large the cabin is compared to the box and the placement of the port.

I didn't try it sealed up but it may meter higher if it's sealed

Did opening door/window change your peak before? That's not uncommon. Still waiting on pictures of the box as it sits too.

I believe it changed it by 3-4hz, not much

I'll go take pictures now, I've been lazy
