so we are gettin ready for the meca show coming up and i finally bought a clamp meter. with my friends car off we clamped an aq 2200 on two hdc3 15's wired at 1 ohm at 658 watts on music rising to 6 ohms //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif so we are wiring it down to .25 later to get actual power out of it and see what happens. do you guys have any tricks to box building or rules to lower impedance so we can get more power? thanks

That sucks...maybe its cause the car was off. Makes me scared thinking about what my aq2200 is actually doing @ 1 ohm. Too bad I have a d2 sub too. What makes imp rise more/less in a box? My box is 5 cubes after displacements.

smaller box tuned higher i think helps but im no where near an expert on imp rise. never really understood it completely

OP: Maybe you should run 16v and lower ohm load if its really that bad.

the forums search sucks! I'm 5 cubes @ 31-32hz for the box I just build. hopefully mine isnt bad..guess ill find out sometime next week

its for MECA, and he is using music so that means he is in amature class. there for car off.

i think (box is old) its like 8.5 cubes tuned to 36 ish. freq was 35 (music btw) as we didnt have much testing time i literally bought the clamp and he had to go to work 10 min later. it peaks at 33 at the headrest does terrible numbers tho because the ports are weird but we are rebuilding for i think modex or mod idk. he has it sealed firing forward in a corolla. guess we will make the new box alot smaller. im makin a cd with tones so we dont have to use music and we are rewiring the subs in the morning and hopefully we get more power. i didnt test the voltage drop since the car was off either. I have two small boxes boxes that don't rise much. One rises from 1 to 2 ohms (2 cuft for 2x 10" subs), and the other rises from .5 to 1.66 ohms (2 cuft for 2x 12" subs).
