everyone.

ive been on boards a while so at least a few

of you know my system and what ive been

trying with it...

well today when i left work i was listening to

a cd and all of a sudden my sub seemed to

make a kinda burp noise...

well it kept doing it through different cd's... i

was afraid i was clipping or something... but

this has never happend before... i even turned

the gain DOWN... and its still doing it...

the only thing i have to go on is i saw the

red light on my amp flicker for a spit second

one time... its the PROT light which the manual

says one or more of the protection circuits have

been engaged...

the light doesnt stay on... in fact i only even saw

it the one time... but my subs keep making this

noise... its like a pop burp kinda thing...

am i fuct?!?!?!

well i reconnected my ground...

and its still doing it... to all different CD's...

it seems to happen more when the HU volume

is at 20 or more... but this is very odd... because

for me typically i set it at 24...

im very worried... is it the amp? the subs?

is this burping/popping [it almost sounds like

someone is throwing coins at the sub while

its moving] killing my subs in the process???

Yea it sounds like when I blew my first sub. It doesn’t really do it until the bass hits right? If so I would sadly say is blown //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

but how can that be??? they are two weeks old... the first

week i ran them at low volume to break them in... and even

now they are only getting 400 or so watts a piece... they are

600 RMS!!!

well what does a blown sub sound like???

my RCA's seem fine... they are the same monster ones

ive been using all along...

this has never happened until today...

if i took it to a shop would they be able to

tell just by listening to it???

one of my 6x9's does that.... i was told it was blown //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif.... sounded good for the first 45minutes i worked it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif.

sure they have dust caps... with the RE logo on them...

ive actually taken the subs out of my car... i pushed

on the cone and it was sort of rough and scratchy...

i then took them out of the box itself... and when they

were flat on the floor... if i pushed in on the very center

of them... they did not make any scratchy sound... nor

were they rough... its only when you push on them

on a little angle that they scratch...

otherwise they look fine... brand new... i have a hard

time believing i could have blown them... i got them

october 19th... and i dont even have an amp that

can push them more than 550 a piece... and the amp

has NEVER been up that far... even my crossover was

ridiculously low... its a memphis 1100 watt at 1ohm dealy...

which brings me to this... could it be the amp?

Well, seeing as a blown sub wouldn't cause lights on an amp to go off, I believe its very probable.

The only other thing i could see as an issue, would be if you had you're gains high to the point where it was clipping... that would make the amp really hot and want to engage that protection circuit, and the clipping would probably **** up the subs...

Good luck, of course best thing to do is... try replace one of anything in you're setup... the subs, the amp, either one... and see if the problem persists...

a new day a new bump...

any more ideas???

ive checked the wiring, the fuses, ive pushed in on my

sub cones and they only are rough if you push them

off center... otherwise... when being moved linearly

in and out they are smooth...

i only saw that prot light once... but it seems like

the amp is maybe sending the subs some kind of electrical

pop... its so fast that maybe the light doesnt even

have time to click on before the amp recovers???

i dont know... but the sound is like in that lollipop lollipop

song from the 50's or whatever... when they pull the

sucker out from a tightly closed mouth... sorry if that

is naughty wording... but its the closest thing i can

explain the sound to be like...

its not constant either... but it does always happen...

over and over...
