well.. the amp in my girls car started ****in up today (profile 600msx). i had bought one off a friend, ****ed it up somehow, bought a refurb from profile themselves which had 8g power/ground terms while the othr had 4g which its supposed to. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif.

well i got sick of the lacking output from the refurb so i sent in the origonal 4g to get repaired. got it back , hooked everything up to find i had a bad ground. moved it to another spot , the bolt snapped //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif. so i finally had to extend the ground to a little less than 5 ft. to get it to this other ground point. so its hooked up bumpin decent...the ****in thing goes into protect, then right back on in the same second long bass note w/o me turning on/off the radio. now its doing that constantly. so im stuck with 2 of the same amps. (anyone interested? lol) ive had them both run 1.5 ohms for the past 4+ months no probs besides getting hot, but now it turned retarded. i dont think its the remote line and a shity ground wouldnt do that i dont think.

soooooo... i might have to get her another amp, 1 ohm stable this time, with the money i made off selling mine //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif .

Interesting:ponder:
got something to say? i was going to use a selftapper for a ground (is this the best way??) but my drill is no where to be found.

i know im not supposed to run them lower than what theyre rated for, but i had to make use of what i have. and its not like theyre usamps , kicker , jl etc amps so im not THAT pissed. its just annoying.

yeah they are very nice for what they are which makes me think ' did i **** something up?' besides running it at lower ohms that its rated for.

welp. she needed a better amp since day one, and the a-bahns arnt helping with thier akward impendance, dual 6 x 2 = 1.5 ohm. but she likes em so its hard trying to get her to part with em.

i undrstand that , but what i dont get is why the one with smaller gauge terminals took the abuse better.i mean i had just taken out that one to put in this one (4g term.s) everything is the SAME except the ground point which is around 5 ft. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

they broke cuz you ran em at 1 ohm, they are budget amps for a reason.
There are plenty of "high end" amps not rated for operational stability lower than 2 Ohms that would yield the same result if run lower than they are intended to be run.

In this instance the amps being "budget" amps, in my opinion, has very little to do with his end result. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

well a lot of higher end amps can be run lower than they are supposed to.
I won't disagree with that as you're right...many of them can.

On the flipside of the same coin, however, many of them can't. It is this variety that I was talking about and when they are forced to operate under conditions other than that which they were designed to the end result is often the same as sqhertz has experienced regardless of brand.

yeah like the kicker x650.1 i had my eyes on that i cant buy now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

ima try n give her the 'its time for an upgrade' talk lol.

maybe 2 assassian 10s on a mtx 421d concidering that profile puts out 410 @ 2 ohm so shes used to ~400 wrms.

ok well we had the talk last night and shes fed up with the budget system bullshit so ima get her some new equip. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif

untill then ima hook up the other amp with the 8g terms for now, but i dont want to run another 5ft ground. i found my drill today and was wondering if a selftapped screw makes a good ground. if so thatll make life much easier.

welll... i swapped out amps and this one seems to be fine (8g). but before i did i was messin around with the other. i drilled a hole in one of those support things in the civic's trunk and bolted a ground there and it still was doing it. could it be the protection circuit going out? i guess its a paper weight now cause im not sending it in to get fixed again. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

i was looking around for amps for her... and came to the kicker kx400.1 and mtx 421d. can they be ran at 1.5 ohm safely? trying to keep it under 150.

ok...so this one is doing it too. i had to cut and crimp the remote a week ago. but that was before this started happening. i swithced ground spots like 2 or 3 times because of poorly made bolts. but inow have it BOLTED to a support in the trunk. i just got back from the first ride with the 8g term. amp back in and not even 10 minutes into the ride it turns off , back on , back off then stayed off for a while then turned back on. wtf?! im going to run a new remote lead and see if thatll fix it. ...such a headache..
