I am thinking of going with JL Audio for an amp and subs but I've never used them before I've heard Rockford and Audiobahn both sounded nice. I have heard that JL has some very nice sounding subs so I was going to give them a shot. I want to go with 2x 12w3v3 4 ohm SVC for a combined 1000 watt RMS @ 2 ohm load and I was thinking of using a JL Audio G1700 Amp which is 700 watts RMS @ 2 ohms. My main question is will this amp be powerful enough I was going with lower then 1000 watts because of JL's power range for the subs on their site it says that around 350w would be optimum for each sub so I figured a 700 watt rms amp would be perfect but I'm not sure how JL amps are since I have never had one before. Theres also a Boston Acoustic GTA-800m amp that looks nice and is nicely priced but again I've never had them for amps either.

so space really isn't an issue.
I wish so badly I could say that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif Welcome to the forum btw //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wave.gif.002382ce7d7c19757ab945cc69819de1.gif

If your going for more SQ, then jump on the bandwagon and go with JL, but they **** for real bass. If you wanna go ported go with a real sub. Stay away from mainstream crap like JL, RF and definitely Audiobahn. Try real companies that haven't sold out, DC SoundLab, Atomic, Fi CarAudio, Ascendent Audio, T3 Audio and many others.

Just out of curiosity what do you guys think sound the best and hit the hardest instead of JL?
What do you listen to? You wouldn't buy a porsche 911 for intense off-roading, even though it'd be good for track use. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Wow I've been out of the loop too long I've never heard of any of those lol. Hows the sound on them besides the bass?

I listen to mostly Rock and Techno type stuff but in the past when I had systems I have listened to rap and hip-hop. I've always built my boxes and tuned to around 35hz for best sound. My first system had an extra stinger battery 3 rockford 1000watt amps, rockford components and 2x RFR3112 sompetition subs and I quickly found out that was WAAAAY too much lol. So I then built a smaller system with one audiobahn 12" and mb quart comps and that sounded nice but was just not quite enough bass so I was going to go with at least 2 12's this time and prolly just keep my head unit powering the coaxials. I don't have the effort to mount tweeters and hide crossovers anymore.

I checked out all the companies you suggested but all their woofers have weird impedance like 3.35ohms and 4.40ohms and that just wont work right. Unless maybe I got 3 12's even then they would be a little off. Also they all seem to be custom made not sure how to order them or how much they are.

You sure?

click the q's or any of the others. Dual 1, Dual 2 ohms, etc.

That's the nominal impedance. What you measure will always be a little different.
Well yea a little different but not 3.35 or 4.40 lol. btw on fi's site how do you order or see prices?

EDIT: Oh nvm its just the top sub if u click it, it does nothing I see now. However the Q's are 1000 watts rms a piece I don't see myself buying a 2000 watt rms amp and the price for each sub is almost twice what I would be getting the JL's for would cost a fortune.

What companies did you look at that weird impedances? Most are all dual 4, dual 2 or the occasional dual 1's, if you compete you look for other stuff like dual .7's but for daily you can use dual 2, 4 or 1's.

I run a pair of DC Audio level 4 10's for daily, they sound awesome with everything, I like metal music, but with the right songs they pound harder than people I know with 15's. I know they are the loudest daily dual 10's in New England.
