So about a month and a half ago I bought a car without an engine and planned to get an engine in myself. So I sell my car figuring okay I'll be out of a car for a week or two. That's no huge deal.
Buy my engine ($2000 w/ 38k) and the car ($3300) and both are there on a monday and they start working on in. They say I should get a new clutch as mine is pretty worn and I'll have to get a new one anyway. Okay, that's no big deal. $140. Then I end up needing a new ****ing starter. $170 This is like two weeks later.
Then I find out the right side axle housing doesn't fit because the car is a 6 speed but the engine is from an automatic. So we order one from some toyota dealer, but it never shows up, and he ends up fabricating his own. Another week.
Another week of just figuring random shit out and other shit.
Then there is some ****ing ***** problem. Turns out it's the fault of the guy putting the engine in, he over torqued a bolt and the head popped off. So they sent it over to the ***** shop. Another 2 weeks and a $900 bill. Thankfully I didn't have to pay for it.
So finally a month and a half later I get my car delivered at work. This was thursday. I drive it home. No problem. I drive it to work friday morning. No problem. drive it home after work. No problem. I have to go back to the shop and on the way there I'm hearing this god awful noise from my engine..
When I get to the shop, they listen, inform me the engine I bought is now ****ed.
We believe (and it's the only ****ing possibility) that they sold us an engine with a blown head gasket and coolant/water was getting into the oil. Obviously not a very good thing and it caused my engine to blow.
So now, just this past monday I tow the car to the shop I bought the engine from (monkey wrench racing) and the stupid ****s are clawing their way at finding some way to blame us (first we didn't burp it, now they said there might have been water in the air box). There isn't any other way this shit could have gone any other way - from the second we first ran it we were getting water in the oil. We ended up changing the oil 3 times. He mentioned it to me when he dropped my car off to check the oil. That's why I drove it back to the shop.
It's going on 2 months with this shit and I want my car.
cliffs:
bought a car w/ no engine
lots of trouble to put "new" engine in
takes a month + 1/2
finally get the car to have the engine be blown less than 24 hrs later because of the engine having a blown head gasket at time of sale
douchebaggery from engine seller occurs
I'm just pissed
