I'm getting so pissed over this ****ing shit

So about a month and a half ago I bought a car without an engine and planned to get an engine in myself. So I sell my car figuring okay I'll be out of a car for a week or two. That's no huge deal.

Buy my engine ($2000 w/ 38k) and the car ($3300) and both are there on a monday and they start working on in. They say I should get a new clutch as mine is pretty worn and I'll have to get a new one anyway. Okay, that's no big deal. $140. Then I end up needing a new ****ing starter. $170 This is like two weeks later.

Then I find out the right side axle housing doesn't fit because the car is a 6 speed but the engine is from an automatic. So we order one from some toyota dealer, but it never shows up, and he ends up fabricating his own. Another week.

Another week of just figuring random shit out and other shit.

Then there is some ****ing ***** problem. Turns out it's the fault of the guy putting the engine in, he over torqued a bolt and the head popped off. So they sent it over to the ***** shop. Another 2 weeks and a $900 bill. Thankfully I didn't have to pay for it.

So finally a month and a half later I get my car delivered at work. This was thursday. I drive it home. No problem. I drive it to work friday morning. No problem. drive it home after work. No problem. I have to go back to the shop and on the way there I'm hearing this god awful noise from my engine..

When I get to the shop, they listen, inform me the engine I bought is now ****ed.

We believe (and it's the only ****ing possibility) that they sold us an engine with a blown head gasket and coolant/water was getting into the oil. Obviously not a very good thing and it caused my engine to blow.

So now, just this past monday I tow the car to the shop I bought the engine from (monkey wrench racing) and the stupid ****s are clawing their way at finding some way to blame us (first we didn't burp it, now they said there might have been water in the air box). There isn't any other way this shit could have gone any other way - from the second we first ran it we were getting water in the oil. We ended up changing the oil 3 times. He mentioned it to me when he dropped my car off to check the oil. That's why I drove it back to the shop.

It's going on 2 months with this shit and I want my car.

cliffs:

bought a car w/ no engine

lots of trouble to put "new" engine in

takes a month + 1/2

finally get the car to have the engine be blown less than 24 hrs later because of the engine having a blown head gasket at time of sale

douchebaggery from engine seller occurs

I'm just pissed

I've got around 6700 into this and I might end up with no working car if I can't get these guys to give me a new engine

and yeah I tought cliffs would be smart

ya i started reading and i was like f it. and then i read the cliffs. its ok man i still havent got my claim from ups.a month and a half ago it was filed. and they ****ed up the check and wrote it for 500 less than it was supposed to be. and i still dont have it.

nah thats a cool car, good luck with everything.

when I blew the timing belt on my crx I thought a $1100 engine was expensive //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

this is why I dont do this sort of thing

i did not know that a blown head gasket will blow the engine w/io causing the engine to overheat first. they shop that installed the engine may have improperly wired the engine to the car thus not letting you know the car was overheating with the blown head gasket.

iirc, a blown head gasket can be replaced and cost maybe 10-20 bucks for the parts..

i have a 93 mazda 626 v6 sitting in my car port with a blown head gasket and valve cover gasket. parts will only cost me like 30 bucks. the engine still runs and idles like normal but will overheat if driven for more than 10 minutes..

edit: if they knew that water was getting into the oil they should of known it had a blown head gasket before they even let you drive off with it. might want to take it to another shop. have them replace the gasket and check for signs if the head is warped. if it is it can be fixed.

douchebaggery indeed, hope everything works out for you. that word just made me lol

did u buy the engine from junk yard in the D? if so which one.
nah it's a racing/parts shop out by the 696/i-96 intersection called monkey wrench racing. they specialize in celica and the 2zz engine and they sell used engines

i did not know that a blown head gasket will blow the engine w/io causing the engine to overheat first. they shop that installed the engine may have improperly wired the engine to the car thus not letting you know the car was overheating with the blown head gasket.

AFAIK blown head gaskets are caused by overheating, they don't cause it. Either way it wasn't overheating, that's absolutely for sure. The temp gauge was functioning properly, plus I know the shop owner extremely well and I know it was done correctly and it was even checked by another shop with very competent mechanics.

The engine is completely blown at this point I believe,. Probably due to the fact that coolant doesn't lubricate very well (ie it's not the blown head gasket that caused it to blow directly, it was the coolant in the oil)

it was probably leaking coolant into the oil when it was pulled out of the other car then it was only a matter of time before it blew.
Yeah. It did come without any oil in there which I guess is not normal so it was shifty from the beginning

All this for a celica! Why didnt you just find one with an engine in it already
haha I would have loved to. I only wanted a 6 speed and they're hard to find. this was the only one

but in the end I'll have a car (hopefully..) with a low mileage engine so it will last me even longer
