So hopefully in 8 or so months, if I get a call from one of the full time jobs I applied to, I will have a newer Suburban or Denali XL. I know that's a long way to plan an audio setup for, but its rainy out and I'm really bored, it can't hurt to start designing a audio setup now anyways. I'm wanting to spend A LOT on stereo, so I would like to pay more for better quality and life.
Here is the layout of the vehicle, It's a bit older but it is all I could find(to help suggest where speakers should go ect.):
http://www.the-blueprints.com/blueprints-depot/cars/chevrolet/chevrolet-suburban-1990.gif I was hopeing to fit 2 large subs behind the back seats, But I dunno if that will work.
A questions to start it off, in my current vehicle, if I have the stereo loud and it draws more power than the alternator, it shuts of the stereo, is this because my battery is crap and doesn't have very much power in it?(Other than the obvious that the alternator isn't powerful enough)
So basically I'm wanting Loudness>Quality, but with the best Loudness:Quality Ratio and longevity , so help me fill in what I will need.
Alternators - I'm waiting probably 1 per sub(2 10,000 watt subs total, unless suggested otherwise) along with a slightly higher than average amp rating than the stock one that will power the speakers and the main car electrical equipment. Also would be nice if you could tell me how much HP I lose with each alternator.
Batteries/Capacitors - I combined these because I heard there are batteries that come with Capacitors already in them, obviously the same as alternators 1 for each sub and then 1 for the speakers/main electrical appliances, that probably won't need as good as the subs
Speakers - Like I said "Loudness>Quality, but with the best Loudness:Quality Ratio and longevity" I`m willing to put in a fair amount of speakers to keep the sound somewhat even throughout the vehicle, and what kinds should I put in, 2 way 3 way, there is 5 way correct? I'm willing to spend the extra time tuning it all if it is indeed the best route.
Speaker Amps - Suggestions here? Should I give each set its own 2 channel amp, or go with a 4 way?
Sub woofers - I like the square solo X 18", I know squares don't last as long. I know 2x 15" Fits in my Astro van with some space, I dunno if I could get 2 18" to fit in a Suburban/Denali, I'm hopeing to keep the back seat in also. If anyone knows if it is possible or not to do that?
Sub Amps - I'm guessing I should go with kickers 10,000 watt amp for each sub? or will I ever come close to using all that power?
Wiring - So when I wire these, I believe the 10,000 watt Amp needs 2 wires of 4 gauge wire, is it ok to put 2 wires like that on the battery, or is that too much to draw from 1 battery and will it need 2 batteries for each sub? Also what type of wiring should I use?
Anything else that I missed?
