I see lots of people calling bs but its been done on TV before.... top gear tied a toyo truck to a dock and set it out to sea with the tide.... then came back 12 hours later and drove it away... they didn’t do anything to it that would make it safer either... just took a bit of draining and it started right up... of course ******* a pond into the motor would hydro lock it but I wouldn’t be shocked if the car was 2.5-3 feet deep... in no way am I defending the op as I think he is a douche for not even being able to tell that a pond wasn’t his buddies driveway but in all reality if it happened to any of us it would seem like it was 10 feet deep in a lake... when you see your car in a pond or lake or something... its got to be shocking... im sure a touch of exaggeration was involved but the kid even showed pics to back up his story with a vid of the car running... if ya don’t like it then leave the dood alone... I mean hell im sure he will feel like an idiot for the rest of his life for driving a car into a pond... At least he shared a decent story and had some funny pics… I mean hell, most stories aren’t worth telling if they are completely believable that’s the part that makes so many of them good.
True, but that truck was a diesel with NO electical components under the hood other then the starter & alternator, both of which would work once dried.
A 99 old has a 3 part ignition coil pack, as well as a computer, and many other electrical components that would be F'd up once wet, yet alone submerged overnight. As mentioned, the water would also get into the other liquids and everything else would be screwed up. The brake system would need to be at the very least flushed out, same with the power steering system and ******. An oil change would also be necessary because the oil caps arnt exactly water tight.
Water would have seeped through the valves and into the cylinders even if the car was slowly pushed into a pond and left to sit overnight.
The true wonder is how the starter was able to overcome physics and help 6 pistons compress water without breaking any of the gear drives of bending anything else inside the motor.
Ive seen cars screw up with less water, so id call this car a 100% loss. Personally, it doesnt add up, but whatever. He now has a story about his car in the pond and can laugh about it.
how come i always fall for that shit?
Need more experience. I saw right through that one //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
That sounds odd. I pour water into my intake to burn off carbon.
Small amounts of water, yes. Also with the engine running, but if the engine is off and the water sits. It wont vaporize, and if it doesnt vaporize, its not going to compress either.
