im a no fuse virgin .

If you're scared of running without fuses.. you're doing it wrong. Use fuses if you doubt your ability to properly install an amplifier & think you're unable to tighten your input screw.

Everyone ITT should be jelly of my chair.

Normally Im fine to let disagreeing opinions go, but that is simply dangerous advice. What you called being scared, I call being smart. I dont care how good of an installer you are, nobody can guarantee they will never get into an accident. Auto manufacturers know what they are doing, yet every single circuit they installed in you car is fused.

Your chair is teh awesomeness however.

Oh I agree 100%. I never said it was a good idea. But it can be done right.. and done wrong. I'm saying his reasoning for being scared is retarded. "I'm scared it'll fall out & ground out".. wtf, do you not know how to tighten a screw? All I'm sayin'.

actually in hundreds of cases fuses lower your score //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

that isn't why I don't run them however. I don't run them because I have never felt the need to run them. If other people want to go a head and run them. If I install some one else system I will install fuses 100% of the time as well. Just don't stand on a soap box about me not running a fuse in my personal car. You know how to run wiring and use the proper sizing you don't need fuses to protect your wiring.

Oh yeah? Well in millions of cases it wont lower your score! No, make that hundreds of millions! lol Obviously Im j/k, but I really have to wonder where you came up with your quantity of cases.

As for lowering a score, if you are that worried about a tenth at a competition, sure go ahead and bypass the fuse for the comp (if the sanctioning body allows it), but for a daily driver its simply foolish to run the risk for a tenth or two of peak output you likely will never notice to the ***** ear anyway.

Lastly, again, knowing what you are doing does not mean you are safe to not use fuses. Knowing what you are doing means using a fuse because you have no way to guarantee the circuit will never short out. I dont know if you are trolling or what, because you are usually pretty knowledgeable, but in this thread you are giving some terrible advice. Even your comment that you dont bother fusing your wire if the amp already is fused only suggests you do not understand what the fuse on the wire is intended to do.

It came from the spl lanes, I actually should be buying a couple rolls of wire soon to start a burp car build here the summer.

As for the advice, I never meant to give any or suggest people not to use fusing. I simply stated I don't and the reason why I don't. You can however bet your *** my daily driver/sq car will be fused in multiple places to protect my equipment in any way I can.

Lastly for the on board fusing statement, I said that sort of *** backward as I meant I only run a fuse on my power wire if the amplifier has no on board fusing as nothing is there to protect the amplifier from shorts. I of course know that the fusing on the power wire is to protect the wire from over heating or causing a dead short and is why you fuse to the wire not simply match your amplifiers rating.

I have been up for quite a while so my typing may come out garbled. So if it takes a couple times saying the same general statment to finally get my point across correctly then that is why.

I have to admit I havent read every reply in this thread. But the OP did not mention this being a competition-only system.

Im not into the SPL scene so I have to ask, what major competition sanctioning body allows systems to compete with no fusing?
