Im going into high school and i want to put in some subs in my 85 blazer but I dont know a lot about car audio. I want somethin thats going to sound good for a price i can afford, and i was thinkin around 300-350$ what do you guys recommend?

-edit- i need the subs and an amp

With 300-350 there are not many options. Going straight to putting subs and amp in your car is not always the best thing to do. Would you be able to invest more money into it in the future? If so then how about a decent HU first, then maybe a decent set of speakers.. maybe even speakers that need to be amped. Then I'd say save up the big bucks later for a sub and amp. Just suggestions. But it's all up to you.

well first i would go get speakers. and then HU. and then sub then amp. but thats just me. since u are going to high school. get a nice set of speakers then work up and get a nice HU then get your wiring for the amp and subs ready.

You could do a decent setup for around 300-350 but i would sugest getting a good HU (if you dont already have one) and like netherland said some good speakers, and then save up later for a good sub amp combo, believe me you will thank yourself later, if you save your money and buy a good setup the first time.

I would first replace the HU if it has not already been done. Then the factory speakers, if they are still factory that makes them 10 years old:crap: . If you do replace your HU go ahead and get the wiring ready for you amp (RCA's and remote) that way you dont have to take it out again when you are ready for the amp:) . That is my opinion since I like my stereo to sound nice and clean and with factory equipment up front you wont get that. If you are set on just a sub setup go with Alpine Type R subs or for even a little cheaper Type E they sound good as well for the price:) .

Thanks a lot for the suggestions, yeah about a week ago i replaced the dash speakers from 40w to 100w there not top of the line by any means but they are a lot better the 6 by 9s in the back are still in good shape and sound pretty good. If im gonna get a new HU can i get any recommendations on that?

I used to have an S-10 and the dash speakers were always needing replacing because of the wear from the sun on the dash:rolleyes: . As far as a deck It is really up to your liking. Me personally like Pioneer decks because they have quite a bit of control on your sound. You can pick up a basic Pioneer for about $125 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif .

HU's can be hard on a low budget. But if you are buying online then you can get great deals at millionbuy.com, onlinecarstereo.com or ebay. There are other sites too. If you go to a local store then it's up to you. Look for something in your price range and watch out for some of the cheaper made ones (Most say Sony sucks)
