i have a question about your sae1200d amp

with my sundown 1200d i find if i go half way on my gain i start to smell what i think is my coils from my Fi ssd. im wired at 1 ohm i today went 1/4 i do think i lost alot of output but my coil issue is not a issue. Im able to keep my volts above 13.3.with a four volt deck i would think half way would b sendin my sub its 800-1000 watts. is this normal for a 1200d for the gain to b set low and still match the out put of the deck

Yes, it is normal for the gain to be low.

The SAE-1200D can produce ~1500 unclipped watts... and w/ clipping alot more than that so it could make the subs stinky if it was turned up too high.

will the new sae 1200 sound and produce the same as my older sae1200? i'm thinking of running another one

Power will be very similar... the new one may produce SLIGHTLY more as we doubled the inductor winding up. Otherwise the parts content is very close to the same... just a new PCB layout and better quality.
