probably 2/3 of the people who buy a named brand car audio product unauthorized via the internet go check it out at a local shop before they buy it online...

I thought that was what you meant, but I really think that would be a huge waste of time since one of the main reasons I do not typically give local shops my business is that they are not helpful. I think my time is better spent doing research on the internet.

what percentage of people in car audio do you think even look at the internet? how many people do you know that actually trust only the internet?

my guess would be it is well under 50% on both questions and probably closer to 20%

I have no idea -- I only know what I do. I can assure you that I do not waste merchants time by having them sell me the product only to buy it off the internet. Years ago I did my time in retail so I know how shitty that is.

Just for the record, JL Audio received an award for their work fighting transshippers. They do actually work hard to stop transshipped/black/grey market items from being sold.

Sometime the internet price is half of the retail price. If the first one fails, then I can buy another for about the same price (or close) if two fails, I seriously doubt I will be making another purchase from that manufacturer anyhow...and will consider it a loss.
