If JL is good but overpriced, at what price point should they be?

pffft i can get PG RSD's for 79.99 plus 24.95 shipping! i dont need no jl's because some random person says the RSD's are the shit!
ok enough sarcasm..

on another note i talked to squeak about what drivers actually truly out spec and can outperform the W7 and they all retail for 400-1000 more than the w7....and or take alot more power to use them at full potential.

anyone that knows me and have seen my posts know i am not a huge JL fan but some of the reasoning behind some people's opinions is rather funny....
You're obsessed with me, and fail to make a point. I brought the best reasoning to this argument, and if someone can better argue why JL is overpriced mumbo jumbo they can be my guest.

What drivers can outperform the JL? A shitload, all that cost under what the JL cost, which is why this argument was made in the first place - can you not read? Don't answer that question, you've already proven you can't. Congrats on joining my ignore list.

Nope, not talking about sensitivity. Talking about linearity....keeping the motor force, suspension compliance, and inductance linear throughout the driver's stroke. This can be seen in impulse response measurements (seeing the fundamental and amplitude of any associated harmonics), swept distortion measurements, and Klippel or Dumax approximations.
I agree...we're not all rich...but if I buy a coffee grinder for $15 and you buy the same coffee grinder for $16, is my coffee grinder better than yours?

I agree that the pairing of the "3 ohm" coil with their Slash series amplifiers is very convenient from a sales standpoint. That doesn't mean that the W7 or the Slash series amps are any less purpose or performance driven.

I honestly don't believe there are any products with the same performance in all respects at that price range. I will give you there are similar products for half the price, but there are none at that level.

The company encompasses real engineering genius with a desire to make high quality audio equipment....unlike MTX who intentionally mislead the customer with their "Head to Head" comparisons that hold no merit.

The crux of the audio realm is that everyone can hear something, but very few know what they are hearing. The same way many people can drive a vehicle, but have no idea what they are driving. That isn't me being an audiophile either...that is me saying that very few of us have the tools and understanding necessary to accurately dissect what we are hearing.
On an off topic - what headphones do you prefer? I am currently using sennheiser HD 555s and love them, but I think my 13 year old cousin abused the shit out of them because when I came in my room when he was visiting me he was listening to "linkin park" with the headphones off and the volume on the computer preamp at 100% and all the way up on all settings. I nearly shitted a brick.

Are there some test tones or anything I can use beside opening up the headphones to figure out if they're distorting or a little fried now? Could onboard sound on a pc even send enough power to fry them?

you have made no point what so ever. idmax does not have a flatter BL nor does it have the displacement of a w7...only advantage it has imo (notice i said imo) it can sound better in a propper set up and can be used specifically as i like...here is a hint its not a sealed box nor is it a ported box....i like them IB but technecally speaking i should call it near IB

The W7 is an extremly impressive subwoofer IMO; and given the R&D that went into it I feel comfortable saying that it is second to none.

I also recall Richard Clark making a very favorable review of the W7 a few years ago; giving response curves, distortion figures, and the likes. IIRC he said something about being able to deliver over 30kw of burst power (around 100hz or something) to the driver in a sealed box before the onset of mechanical noise, and was quite impressed...

yeah they are definitely not a ripoff because of the internet but they claim unless you pay $800+ they won't warranty their products (//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif at them).

What???

not many companies will warranty ebay sold gear....again you fail to understand why lol
It could be that this is additional incentive for the mftr to sell to internet companies on the cheap.

lol what do you think happens? i mean seriously? when you have a good in demand product you get really large dealers who buy over a million dollars at a time. the more the dealer buys the better price or better incentives they get. what does it add up to? transhipped product like we have here

And all of the manufacturer looks the other way.
