IB setup. Vents?

In the trunk of my car there is a vent, and it vents to outside. For a IB setup would you try to seal this off? Or leave it open so there is less pressure in the trunk, making it more like a IB setup?

It doesn't matter. The idea of an IB system is to isolate the front of the driver's cone from the rear.

Its a vent to let air out but not in. Kinda flaps around with the bass. Vents into rear bumper, more kinda on the side of the car, can't be seen from the outside.

If you still want to see it I could try to get a pic.

its like a 6'' x 6'' vent, and you have to remove the rear bumper to take it out, which I will not do. Just going to rip and break it out, then maybe just deadener over the hole.

Why not just plug it from the inside?

I guess you got a point there.

Im just afraid it might still flap. But no need to go breaking stuff. Probably just layer deadener on it then.

Let's see a picture of this bad boy. I'd superglue or epoxy a chunk of wood or plastic or something over it then deadener.

I found out my intrepid has a trunk vent. Could this cause loss of output? Gonna seal that bish up.

Seeing as you want to seal the subs off from the outside as well as possible, probably. Most likely not a noticeable amount though.

Ive read that sealing it up will affect closing the doors and the trunk. Most importantly, when air bags go off.

If you have a dash vent as well and leave that open, then it may not be a problem if you seal up the trunk vent.

Hondas have them too. I sealed mine off

What year of lancer ? I also have a lancer but have never noticed a vent in the trunk..lol

I'd be willing to bet it's hidden pretty well behind carpeting and whatnot
