IA 40.1, optima, nsb90, 250A alt, still not enough,

So this is just a 1 channel amp with 4 outputs?
I have an alt without the big 3, I took that out bc I am getting a new car. But I Wanted a temp setup to drive to texas. I have 2/0 welding wire to back batt and I have 2 runs a piece in 0 gauge to posi and negi

edit- so if I hook up the subs at .5 it will make the amp see .25? I dont understand
Just to clear that up, yeah it is a mono amp with 2 positive and negative terminals. They are connected internally. You can just use one set of the + and - and be fine.

Also, I dont think with a 250amp alt and a NSB in the back that the amp would have fried just because you didnt have the big 3 done. Of course I could be mistaken but it just seems unlikely. It could have been from too low of a load on the amp.

#1. Do not ground a 2nd battery to a seat belt bolt. Use the actual frame or run to front battery

#2 Do not run that much current without the big three

#3 That amp has the ability to draw a lot more current than 450 amps at .5 ohm. For daily I wouldnt take it below one ohm.

Take care of your equipment and it will take care of you. If this is your first install you may have started with a little smaller set-up as not to lose so much at once.

sucks dude but you live and learn.

Hell I thought they could do .35 burp and .5 daily.....

So why would they put 4 channels when you can only use two

This is my TENTH 9515 WHEN THE **** WILL I LEARN!!!!!!!!!

I guess this is the wrong amp I needed then, I have 2 dual 2 subs...

I guess the big 3 was what it was

20.1s are stable to lower resistance than the 40.1s. Also remember the massive amount that current draw goes up running at lower loads.

The channels are internally bridged so you dont have to wire subs together in the box. This is pretty common practice on mono amps.

More importantly change the back battery ground.

Also if you need new subs anyways why not recone them to dual 1s?

Here is what it looks like, and like I said I have 2 dual 2 subs.....

The little boxes are terminals

Yep, as a matter of fact I have one sitting right next to me. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

For the time being (if it isnt blown) I would hook them up at 2 ohms.

The positives are bridged together and so are the negatives. You can use both or just one. But if you use both and have each sub paralleled to one ohm the amp will see .5 since its mono.

I would series each voice coil on the sub (4ohms) than hook each sub up to the amp.

This is the shit that confused me..

How would I hook up my subs for the amp to see a 1 ohm load... I can only cram so much in my brain at once...

I dont understand all of this bridged internally and bridged posy and negy shit.. lol.

I appreciate you guys help ALOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

You wont be able to see a one ohm load with (2) dual 2s. You can either go 2 or .5 (yes I know 8 but that shouldnt apply here). either use one sub at one ohm or both subs series paralleled to 2 ohms.

Or get a couple nsb 90s and numerous runs of 0 ga front to back (positive and negative) and see if the 40.1 likes to be ran at half ohm. I am sure some people do it but it was not recommended to me.
