If you "know" you'll never go more than (2) 18's, go ahead and get them. Because if you get 12's, you'll get used to them and be like, "lemme try some 15's." Then, when those are boring, "I should have gotten 18's."

Orrrrr... get the 12's now and if it's not enough, get another pair. (4) 12's can get freakin nasty. Probably wind up with a bit smaller box, but you're still lacking on cone compared to a pair of 18's. Barely. Motor and coil will make up for that though. Only downside is, that (4) 12's is going to be almost twice the price as a pair of 18's.

Just get the 18's...I thought my 18 was loud but after a month I was like, man I want another lol. Build your system until it's loud enough where you are scared to go full tilt lol..

In all honesty, he could get a pair of today's beast 10's on the 3400 he got and he would probably shit himself. He hasn't heard a real system in 15 years! Lol.

I was the same way when I got back into car audio after being out of it for about 12 years... Two 18's will make you more happy in the long run, probably. 1500 - 2000 watts and a pair of good subs is good for most people. If you want to compete or love bass, the sky is the limit.

im pretty happy with my one 15. never wanted/needed anymore cone area than that. 2k rms is good for me lol
