this is my first post and i am glad to be a part of this forum. I just had a mtx 6000 blow on me so now im looking for something alot better. I have been researchin and have been lookin at IDMAX, Brahma, SI Magnums, RE, and others in that class of sub. I dont really wanna change much of my setup now so help me find a 12" for a box 2.0-2.4 with a MTX 942 thunder amp http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=39735&item=5728075053&rd=1 I still learning about this car audio stuff, im leaning towards the IDMAX but i dont know if i have the amp for one. please help me im driving with no bass at all!!!!!!!!!

how much is an sx? i have searched for brahmas is there anywhere that sells new ones for less than 379$??? how long do they last do they have short lifespans? im a daily driver listener type.

940 watts RMS x 1 bridged output @ 4 ohms
That's plenty of power for an IDMax. But as nice as the IDMax is, for that power range Id buy a Brahma without a doubt.

I'd give at least a bit of doubt personally, I love my IDMax //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Sounds great, gets loud, what more can ya want ? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

SX10- $260

SX12- $270

SX15- $290

SX18- $320

You are looking at some of the best subwoofers made in the SX, Brahma, XXX, etc.. why would you think they would have a short lifespan? The SX and the Brahma are both beefy, well built subs. If used properly, either would last a long time.

BTW, IMO the Brahma is enough of a better sub (more displacement, more linearity and less distortion due to XBL^2) to justify the extra %100 over the SX. But if its worth that much $ to your wallet is up to you.

Ugh I was afraid someone wouldn't like that comment. Seriously, the IDMax is an awesome subwoofer. I came very close to buying IDMax's, before settling on my XXX's. But as great as the Max is (and it is great, planning on using them in my Impala install), the Brahma simply has more displacement, more linearity and less distortion output thanks to its XBL^2 motor design. Yes the Max has its advantages too (transients are excellent, upper sub-bass range is handled very well by the max, etc), but IMO the Brahma is simply an amazing subwoofer. I put the Brahma, XXX and W7 at the top of my list of best all-around subs ever made. I put the Max in the top 10 (maybe top 5).

i believe the brahmas are 1400rms and xxx are a lil higher i think. why do people choose xxx's over brahmas? i have never heard any of these speakers in person and most people i know havent even heard of them. i know the differences in sound with a sealed and a ported box but has anyone heard the difference with these subs in both kinds of boxes? i have a 2.3 cu in ported box now but i think the size of either of these subs will make that a lil smaller than desired specs. what are your opinions on box type??

Even though it isnt somethin you listed here, Im going to say the POWER T1, by Rockford Fosgate. I think they take like 700 to 800 RMS. But dont quote me on that. They run like anywhere from 4-600 dollars. Its not top of the line but its pretty **** close. The top of the line Fosgate sub that I know of is the Power T2. with is like 750 dollars new. But you wouldnt be supplying full power to it with that amp. The T2s takle 1000 watts RMS. So youd be close. Just thought I would add in my two cents

i just bought an audiobahn 1300hct 1200w amp. i have read some posts after the fact and am thinking that it sucks. so now i have my mtx942 and AB1300hct will either of these be enough to push a brahma? which amp is better?

Those RF Power subs are just waaay overpriced. Brahmas cost less than T2s and take 'em in SQL.

i am going for the brahmas just one more question will my 940w mtx or 1200w AB be good enough to slam this sub? if so ill buy i just dont wanna have to sell both amps to buy a new one cuz their just not strong enough. I heard a treo 12" on a 1600w amp today and it sounds nice i think they run about 300$ i dont want that i just wondering if anyone could tell me how better a brahma 12" sounds compared to it..?
