right at this second, ive got two 8's off a computer power supply and a 300w profile amp using the TV's audio output RCA channel... they are hitting pretty ****ing hard IMO ... i seriously cant believe how loud they get.
delicious.
the only problem is that a computer power supply can supply maybe 15 amps for a 400w unit.
powersupply = $30
wire = $15
45 minutes
soldering iron
2-set 2-position SDPT switch (got 2 pos and negs to power on\off two different things at once)
basically you gotta open the PSU (powersupply) and de-solder ALL the wires EXCEPT the green one (all the yellows\reds\blacks\and the rest in that really fat cable)
make sure you DO NOT get any solder ANYWHERE ELSE but OFF the wires, if you spread the solder like .1 inch, and it shorts the circut somewhere, your unit is DEAD. that being said,
I AM NOT RESPONSABLE FOR YOU KILLING YOURSELF!
basically, get some 10 or 8 guage wire, and solder two pieces to the board, one where the yellow wires went, and one where the black wires went... then solder a 12~16 guage piece to where the yellows went and another piece of 12~16 where the black wires went as well.
thats basically it, the green wire is the "rem" wire for the powersupply. and needs to be hooked to the black (ground) to turn the powersupply on.
check out this tutorial - it explains it all.
i wrote it, its my site, tell me if it makes sense..
