I wanna make a box

I wan't to make my own box, it will be my first time ... I am curious about the internal air space and the volume inside the box. How does the shape effect the volume and what dimensions work best? Any help you guys could provide me with would be great

Make sure you use atleast 3/4 inch MDF, seal it up nicely with caulking or silicone and try to put atleast one angled side in the box. From what I have read and from personal experience it helps with air flow and givs it a little better sound. Good luck, the first times always interesting. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

what subs? how many watts are they going to get? do you want it to sound good or just be really loud? or do you want in between?

here's a step by step of what i went thru when i built my first box

first off, shape means squat... im assuming you are planning on a sealed box... if so the only important things are the final internal volume (which depends on which subs youa re going iwth, and how many). Making it with no angled sides is perfectly fine and easiest... afterall, there is sno airflow in a sealed airspace...

second off, get 3/4" MDF and Liquid Nails some drywall screws, a drill bit to predrill and countersink the holes and some silicon if you relaly want to make sure...

i hope you ahve a nice table saw and a good power drill with a couple bits. also, hopefully you have a rotozip, or dremel tool iwht a circle attachment to cut the holes. all right, first rule, measure twice, cut once... once you have all youdimensions and volume, plan it out and make usre you ahve enouh wood. once you ahve your pieces vut out, make sure they all fit together properly. next, cut out your holes for the speakers using the dremel. Now, glue the pieces together with Liquid Nails, great stuff, but don;t get it on ya... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif once that stuff dries, (a couple hours at least) throw in some predrilled and countersunk screws every few inches along the seams.. now,m if you ahve opted to go with silicon, run a bead along each internal seam and smooth it with you rfinger or something.. now this is important.. if you siliconed, let it dry in a well ventilated area, without the subs in it for at least 24 hours. curing silicon releases some vapours that are harmful to the suspension of subs. after it is all dried and what not, vaccuum out any dust and then throw those subs in...

what about ported box with a slot port and really loud it also will go into a single cab truck and willin to sacrifice the pasenger seat for space or do what rangerman did to the ranger

actually rectangular boxes tend to be better then cubed ones, also spherical boxes are the best boxes for sound quality.

says who?

show me one reading off a meter taht proves that...

how does it make any difference as long as care is taken to make sure that the box doesnt resonate, and that its acoustically dead

5db loss? I really doubt it!!!! Not calling you a liar but where did this onfo come from? I've built tons of differant boxes in plenty of shapes and sizes and I have a hard time believing there is much differance in sound depending on the shape of the box!
