i tried my first install and failed

Maybe your remote wire is hooked up to your antenae lead. They are both blue wires, I know I've done that before. Or maybe its not even hooked up to your HU.

Edit: nevermind, I wrote this before your last post. I thought you did the install. I doubt a pro would have made this mistake.

it looks like it's hooked on pretty securely.
ok here's the entire story.

had my Orion 600D and 12'' type R sitting in my garage from my mazda, decided "well i work for GM i finally have money to do my system in my beetle now" so i bought a 200x2 2 channel for a pair of CDT Components.

not wanting to screw anything up on my nice old car, which was an electrical nightmare when i got it but i'm starting to finally clear up now, i bought it to a shop, and just had them run the wires and install my HU(under the dash) because there was nowhere to put my amps yet as i was in the middle of taking out the backseat so i could build a false bottom over my battery and have more room to work with.(i drive a 79 superbeetle so space is hard to come by lol)

dropped my car off, told them not to touch anything that doesn't need to be touched electrical wise, as i was just finally clearing up the nightmare it was. went and picked it up when they were done, he told me everything is hooked up and to bring it back on monday(they were closed today) so he could hook up the amps after i built the false bottom. free of charge as i already paid them for a full install anyway.

so i said "it's just a matter of hooking up the power wires and ground wires and speakers right?" and he said yeah, so i told him i could do that myself, and i'd just do it after i made my false bottom. he said "this blue wire is the remote wire, so just split that and run it to each amp" and pointed out which wires were what just incase i was an idiot.

got home, hooked it all up, and amps didn't turn on. so instead of trying to problem solve, i just figured fuck it, i'll just bring it in on monday before work because i already paid for it, i might as well just have them do it so i don't **** anything up.

i paint cars, i don't work on them lol. i prefer not to get my hands too dirty. i'm a sissy lol

/long story.
well if your power wire and ground were already in, and IF they did a good job on the ground, then the remote wire sounds like it is the issue. Unless you somehow managed to toast everything.

Recheck your ground and make sure its on a good clean spot of metal. Maybe check your remote wire and see if you did the right one/look for a break somewhere from running it and snapping it.

you got the power wire hooked up to the battery? buddy of mine put his system in, started freaking out and called me. everything was right except he didnt hook his power to his battery or his ground heh.
my guess is you prolly have a bad ground
i installed everything, went to turn the key for the first time, no power, tried to trouble shoot for about an hour (by this time its 3 am) call it a night go to sleep.

wake up in the morning, pull the hood, forgot to put in the fuse.

we all make dumb mistakes.

so is this the end of the thread? or is that your own story?
well i didn't really start the thread to get help, i started the thread to make fun of myself for ******* at installing. but people were nice enough to try to help. unfortunately, i have to go to sleep in like 10 minutes if i plan on waking up tomorrow before work, so i wouldn't have had time to go out there and take my amps and false bottom out to try to get everything straightened out, so it will have to wait until tomorrow. it's too dark to want to mess around with shop lights and stuff. but once it's fixed i'll post pics of my false bottom and my car without backseats

thanks to everyone that tried to help i do appreciate it.

well when you get a chance, can you explain your remote wire, because when i read earlier, it sound like you spliced one wire down the center of it, to make it into two wires. if so you should redo your remote wire, and use a relay, or easier run it to a butt connector, and run two wires out of the other end of the connector. get some sleep, we'll help you tomarrow

that's what i did with the remote, cut all the extra off, then cut the extra into two, so i could have one going to each amp, then i spliced them both to the original remote..

you'll have to excuse my amazing ms paint skills

I'm messing with painting cars right now. Lotta stuff to learn. All that different types of paint, mix rations. Woh! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif
yeah that's probably the hardest part, is learning all the materials. after that it's easy, the only thing is they're coming out with new materials constantly. i've been doing that and my winter job for four years now, and i still learn something new everyday i go to work. but i absolutely love it.

my winterjob is painting displays for the North American International Auto Show, so it's related, just mostly different paints, i.e a lot of waterbased stuff.

you must be too new to remember the good ole lemans days //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
I was a lurker during the lemons days.....I remember him b4 the days that he changed his name to PV Audio...But i never knew that he didn't ever have a system.

Its quite possibly one of the weirder things that i have ever seen on ca.com

ya's its really hard to phuck it up. Do this, get a really long run of say like 20AWG, and then hook one side of it up to ur battery postive, and the other side to the remote in on the amp. The amp should turn on at this point. If it didn't its not the remote line.

Or take a really short run (4") of say like 20AWG, and then hook one side to the power input on your amp and the other side to the remote input and watch what happens. Make sure to disconnect the remote wire going to your h/u first though. If you want to do it the right way then buy a meter.

I've been practicing alot of pin striping //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif . My community college use House of Kolor paint for practice panels and stuff. lol //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Update:

So I just dropped my car off, and told him what happened, and he said he didn't put the fuses in because he didn't want me driving around with hot wires that weren't hooked up. silly me. i guess i should've just applied myself and tried to problem solve it instead of just letting someone else fix it. so now i get to go back to bed so i can get enough sleep for work. i'll post some pics tonight when i get home from work.
