I think my local audio shop screwed up, pics included

I don't see why people always recommend 1/0 gauge and is sure that anything smaller is insufficient. He's only running 1kwrms, I'm sure 4gauge is fine. All you have to do is get a DMM and check whether the subs wired down to 1ohm or not, if its not all you have to do is some re-wiring, easy. Could be possibly you have it wired wrong. Cause you should be hitting harder then a single 15" unless he was in a hatch of some sort or something.

One more question, as for box i looked up alpine type r's and they recommend them only to a 1.25 cu. - 1.75 cu. per sub in a ported enclosure net. So why isn't my 3.0 cu. ft net good enough for the subs i own? I know they are 4.082 cu ft. but net are 3.0 cu ft.

Looks fine to me man... scrape away a little paint at the ground maybe.
x2.

I think you're worrying way too much here. Just scrape away that ground.

Also, check the resistance on that amp to see if it's what you wanted. Just put DMM leads to the terminals. You can fix it yourself if you want.

As for your stock amp...mine's 80 or 90...can't remember. Running stock battery. Big 3 done. 4 gauge to a distro block, then whatever's necessary after that.

I'm running 3 amps with approximately 1500w rms. The only real issues I have is dimming at loud levels, but I rarely listen to it that loud anyway. Nothing that bothers me enough to run out and buy an HO alt.

It's fine. There's essentially a point where too big of a box is pointless. Unless you run IB subs.

Your box is just fine.

I figure for the time being i will scrape away some paint and re-ground, but the guy had one p2 15" in a grand am! I do not know why he was hitting so hard. But where can i buy a dmm? Radioshack or something? And should i upgrade the cheap *** wiring they used?

Could be any number of reasons. Was his box sealed or ported? What size? Do you know exactly what power he has?,...etc, etc

Cabin gain also effects this.

what are those type rs dual 4 or 2 ohm?

im guessing 4 ohm if that the case then the subs are more than likely wired in paralle droping each sub to 2 ohms. from looking at the picture it looks like each sub is ran to its own channel. if thats the case they are not wired to a 1 ohm load. a temp fix would be bridge your amp with both hots to pos on amp and both grounds to negitive on amp. but i would first check with a mulitmeter to make sure each sub is wired correctly.

It's not that bad. Could be a lot worse. It will be very easy to change out the thin speaker wire, scrape pff the paint on the ground and maybe throw a zip tie or two onto the area where the fuse holder is in the engine compartment. Other than that how could they have doe this better for 70 bucks?

He had the subs on an 800 watt rms amp, in a ported box, he had no idea what the sub was wired to or what the box was tuned to.

Good ground FTW. You wouldn't realize the difference paint makes until you remove it.
I have a total of 6 runs of speaker wire (left/right midbass, midrange, tweeter) running up my car along with power wire, optical cable, and ai-net cable. I had a bit of noise until I did my last install, during which I took a metal brush and scrubbed down my grounding point. I have all those wires right next to each other in the trunk area and not a single bit of system noise; none- at all.
Add a star washer as well
