I think my local audio shop screwed up, pics included

So about 2 weeks ago i had bought everything i had needed to install my subs: amp, box, install kit etc. but since back then i did not know how to install all of that i took it to my friends brothers shop, his brother is the owner. I figured they knew what they were doing and i got it all installed 50% off, only 70 bucks for the install. I explained to the installer i wanted the subs wired down to 1 Ohm, and he thought i was crazy. I then explained to him how my amp can handle 1 Ohm and he sayed ok fine. I also purchased extra 4 gauge wire to get the big 3 done, i told him to do that for me and he did not know what the big 3 was!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif so i told him it was battery to alt, battery to ground, and alt to ground. So he said he would do that.

Today, as i was showing my subs off to my friends, noticed that my subs hit hard but my buddy who had a 15" rockford p2 in a ported getting 800w rms was hitting a little bit harder than me!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif So when i got home from school today i popped the hood and noticed that the installer only re-grounded my battery and nothing else dealing with the big 3. I also noticed that he ran the power wire and the rca cables on the same side! Now i thought it is never good to do that! Also, i have noticed a smell of something not really burning but an akward smell. But the pics are below of my car, amp, head unit, etc. But what should i do? I think this weekend i will re-wire the rca to the left of the car, and actually do the big 3 finally, but how do i know for sure if my subs are wired to a 1 Ohm load? I mean if they messed all of this up it is possible they screwed up the wiring!

One last thing, i notice that if i start my car and play the subs at say 20/65, then 30/65, then 45/65 progressively then my subs seem to hit harder as compared to just starting the car up and cranking it up to 50/65. Does this sound right?

Thanks in advance,

Mike

Holy huge arse pics batman //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif **** , that's a crappy arse wiring job. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

The RCA's and power wire on the same side doesnt really matter. I can't really tell if he wired it to 1 ohm since I can't see how he wired the subs inside the box.

Slowly raising the volume probably seems louder to u because ur comparing it to when the volume was lower, as to when u just start it off really loud. Psycologically u think it's louder at 45. Or maybe ur Battery is drained and the alternator had sometime to put out power while u are slowly raising it.

I know! i didn't even realize that till now too! I am really pissed, but i guess i will just have to re-wire everything. Now i think i should have taken it to my best buy to have gotten it all installed! lol, i mean i do work there and could have gotten an awesome discount on it but still i mean its not that hard to wire it, if only i would have known how to wire subs two freakin weeks ago!

Yeah sorry for the massive pics, taken with i think a 10.0 megapixel cam, but do not feel like re-hosting them on imageshack to resize but i really would hate to have to unscrew the mounted subs in the box to do that. Basically i think i might have been screwed over.

Sorry about all of this guys, first time posting pictures using imageshack. Everything is resized for your viewing pleasure. But regarding what people have said, the box isn't too small, it is 14" x 32" x 20" with a net gross of 3 ft cubed inside. But the pictures are here to show what a shitty job they guy did on my car, i did not even realized how bad it was until now. Also what gauge speaker wire should i upgrade to? I noticed now that the speaker wire is way to small. I wont be re-wiring anything until my 1/0 gauge kit comes in from knu, ordered it so i can upgrade to big 3 using 1/0.
