the flat tops are actually high frequency information(harmonics) i.e. - more power under the curve

usually they aren't sending a square wave...why not?

not full square waves but the do flatten out....how else is a 300 watt amp gonna putt out 5-6k....

As far as I know, they don't, because it won't help them. 6kw from a 6kw amp vs from a 3kw amp being clipped is not the same in terms of sub output. And certainly not the same in terms of what output the mic is going to see

hahaha...when i call the mainland, they have a hard time pronouncing my last name, my street name, my town (said "he-low", spelt hilo) they say high-low, and the worst one yet is when the lady on the phone @ sony said "hah-why-yee" or the ones that say it "how-why"

for SPL burps, AFAIK clipping doesn't matter. you want to get as much power out of your amps as possible.
