ok so i hooked the subs i found last night u. first i hooked them up to the amp they were with and it is stuck in protect. just like i thought, i had a feelin somin was wrong with that amp. next i hooked it up to my sundown prototype amp that i bought from jacob. they beat for a sec then stopped playin. the amp doesnt have any warning lights just a power light. i use this amp to push my w6 every day. but now it wont do anythinng. the power light comes on but no sound comes out.
i have done coutless installs so i no what i am doing. the only think i can think of id that the amp isnt 2 ohmss stable. but i could swear my jl is at 2 ohms.
you have done countless installs but still dont know that a pair of DVC 4ohm subs will wire to 1 or 4ohm final load?

ha ha i no im a idiot when it comes to wiring, like i said i normally have a meter but i didnt have one today. and i havent done that many, im not a pro, but ive done a few

well then, i think a 1 ohm load is a little out of the question,

too bad you didnt look up how to wire these or go get a DMM. you did learn the hard way. If you would have taken your time, you could have wired this into a 4 ohm load, and you woulda been golden

yep but im ****ed now. i think imma go out and get a dmm for the future. im not gonna make the same mistake twice. and i honestly didnt no what the amp was stable at. shouldof asked jake first

here's a little tip for you

never, ever, wire a 2ch amplifier into anything less than 2 (most commonly 4) ohm load. A 2ch amp (unless its a dual monoblock sub amp) are designed mainly for speakers, not subs, and therefore dont like low loads.

theres a rare few standard 2ch amps (that are non dual monoblock or class d amps) that will handle low loads, but not many

thank you i will deff keep that in mind. at least this wasnt a really expensive amp. i learned my lesson but didnt loose too much cash. replacing is gonna be tough though
