I replaced my Kicker L7 Kicker 12'' for this...did I make the right choice?

I have a pioneer double din and the model goes something like this ... Av3200dv.

The max volume dial is 40 and I usually listen to it at about 35 - 36. My lunch break is at 12:30 I bought my dmm with so I'll be messing with it then. I'll keep you all posted for sure

I run a Pioneer AVH-X5500BHS could you explain your statement? Also how can you tell what your max HU volume is?
In the 80prs for example I set my gain at 0 sub level. It wasnt doing hardly anything so I went plus 6 and scoped it, no clip but output where it should have been. Alpine CDA-117 was the same way. You mean max clean volume?

So I set it to 34 volts and it sounds amazing, the output is sweet! My HU sub level is at zero and my eq is at the bottom/ lowest level along with everything else. What is subsonic on my amp? I placed that at about 50% and I also placed the SUB BASS dial on my amp about 50% and I also tuned to 35 on my volume head unit. I was able to max out volume after I tuned with no clipping and the bass was all there and sounded sweet. I feel I still have some other minor tweaking on my HU and possible on amp to fine tune this all.

Sub sonic is when it starts rolling off the bass at that frequency. Also If you tuned to 35 I would not go much over that as your are running in the sweet spot and might actually start clipping at higher volumes even if you cant hear it.

hm, not sure I understand what subsonic is.... can you explain a little further? and good tip , I will keep it at 35. I tuned with a friend and he was impressed by the process. To be honest so was I. Feels good when you things are done correctly, thanks to you guys.

Before you remove the amp, swap the front RCAs with the rear ones on the amp and repeat the test. Many guys here use the Pioneer amps and love...
