I now see why all our packages get destroyed.

Do you really think every other shipping company doesn't operate exactly like UPS?

You can't even imagine the volume of stuff that goes through those companies daily, they just plain and simple do not have the resources to treat each and every package as if it was their own. Package for the worst case scenario and you'll be fine.

I have no clue how every other shipping company operates. I just know that I don't want my pakages dropped from 7 ft up into a pile of boxes.

than don't order anything online and have it shipped by any of the shipping companies... FedEx is the same, USPS is the same, even the airlines are the same.

It's all based on percentages. Theres a bottom line somewhere that justifies operations vs. return. I get banged up boxes all the time, but I have yet to have to send something back because of shipping damage. In reality, how many times have you guys had to return something because of shipping damage? I'm sure there will be some, but the VAST majority of packages make it through fine, with box damage or not.

If someone hand delivered packages around a shipping distro, shipping prices would be outrageous. We get the cheap shipping cost for cheap service... nuff said. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Just package it well.

When I shipped my amp in for repair recently I cut out styrofoam an shiz from my subwoofer box and packed it in good.

Make sure to tape well as mentioned before. And If you can put more than one adress label on it, cuz as the boxes fly down the conveyor belt ppl have to turn them over alot to find the address. Especially if your box is heavy that helps. Otherwise its alot easier to get mis-sorted.

Pile ups do happen, but i rarely see them as bad as those pics.

i saw a fedex truck the other day at work and they either just threw everything into the truck, or it all fell off the sides cuz everything was all over the floor of the truck

Basically, you get what you pay for.

If somebody came up to you and said they want you to take a 50+lb package, carefully load it onto a truck making sure it gets treated very gently, drive it across the US, and hand deliver it to somebody's door, would you do it? How about if they said they'd give you $30? Exactly...

The Only Way You Will Ever See A Dime From Any Shipping Company Is If They Pack It For You.if You Self Pack, you Will Always Get The Excuse Of Insufficent Packing Material.got Screwed On A Brand New Factory Sealed Car Rim.the Driver Did Not Even Let Me Get To The Door To Refuse Package. All Shipping Companies Are A$$holes

If I had 200 packages... yeah I think I'd do it for 6 grand.

I worked at RPS when in Highschool.

This is deffinetly not limited to UPS. Most everyone that worked there was either young and in highschool or older and on drugs. When unloading a 40foot box trailer do you really think each package is walked the 40 feet to place it on the belt? Nope you grab a box and launch it to the back of the truck. Once you have a pile near the back you walk up and place them on the conveyor belt.

When I first started there I couldnt throw a package. But after a week of falling behind the company demands, you do whatever it takes.

RPS ships alot of bulk stuff. If an unloader was hungry he would grab a box a cheetos, opent he box, grab a bag out, then throw an open package sticker on the box and send it to be resealed with a claim ticket on it.

It was amazing the crap i saw there. but like someone else said. The odds of yourstuff being broken compared to the amount of boxes shipped, makes it not an issue fore the shipping company.

To a company, what is 10 unhappy customers out of a 1000?

random question to all you who work at ups, do they have drug dogs? My friend worked at one back in the day and said they were non existant in these types of places only in usps?

One time my buddy shipped his PS2 through UPS. I helped him make a special 5 layer thick impermeable box with layers of sponges inside. He got if fixed and it returned to him in a pretty crappy box, but hey it worked. If I can offer everyone here my advice, ship air not ground. An air container is only about 7 feet high inside vs the inside of a feeder which can be I assume 10 feet. Longer falls. Besides that, 1 person unloads the container vs up to 6 in the truck. That many pissed off people in one spot and things start flying. And **** it, put your labels on the largest flat side that faces up. And tape your stuff up too. Morons ship boxes with 50lbs of screws, nuts, bolts, and they spill everywhere because they slap on one piece of tape. If it agravates anyone, it will be handled worse. When something smashes my foot cause it fell out of a box, I tend to kick it.
i used to work shipping and receiving in a fastener plant(nuts and bolts) and that is so true. people that taped up the ups stuff were retards. box would weigh 60lbs, been shipped too and from at least 10 times so it nice and worn, and would put a piece of tape on it.

when i did it id use so much tape that there wouldnt be any cardboard showing. even when i sell stuff on here i get so paranoid i pack it up like there is a baby inside. ive worked shipping and receiving, i know how packages are treated lol
