I purchased 2 10" Kicker Solo Barics, I gave the seller a radar detector I was selling for $165 and $75 in cash. I get one of the subs and its reading erratically like somethings screwed up and within 30 minutes of playing its dead off 150w at that. Now, a claim is being filed through FedEx for $200 which was more than he was asking for the subs.

The seller sent me my detector back but im out 75 bucks. FedEx has already examined the package and delivered it back to me. The seller wants the subs and box back even though one is dead.

My question is, do you think he should get the subs back since he is the one thats going to be getting the insurance payout?. Remember, im out $75 bucks since that issue was never dealt with. Hes telling me we need to cut our losses but im the only one losing out here.

He gets the 200 bucks (again, more than he wanted initially), plus the good sub and box and I lose money?. That doesnt seem right. Not to mention im expected to ship this shit back to him at MY OWN EXPENSE?!?!?!?!

Id like the forums opinion on this.

Why wouldn't you get your money back? Doesn't make any sense to me. If you paid $75 & your radar detector I wouldn't send anything back till I got $75 and the radar detector back. I'd also expect him to cover half the shipping cost if not all.

Hes expecting me to cut my losses.....He wants the subs and box AND he would get the insurance payment. The insurance payment is more than he wanted for the subs sohe should be happy with that and I should be able to sell the one sub and box to recoup the cash im out. Also I shouldnt have to cover the shipping imo...

Im not trying to sound like an ass but I think the insurance payment he will be getting should be sufficient. Am I wrong here?

Yeah, I'd tell him he can have them back if he repays the $75 & covers shipping. Just sending them back isn't "cutting your losses", it's increasing them.

Pretty much what im thinking.

that or you blew it. clipping off 50w can kill subs. and dont bring up ''well what does tuning down your volume do'' thing. itss about clipping and i bet you were. but file the claim on your side is my opinion. get teh monies

Get your 75 back, blow other sub, then split shipping with the seller, seller now has 2 paper weights he can't do anything with and has nothing to gain but a box w/ 2 square holes.

The shipper has to file the claim. Also I was running them off a very clean US Acoustics amp with gains set via DMM. I set to the proper voltage THEN backed it off about .5 volts to be safe. My voltage did not dip under 13.8v....so no clipping most certainly was not the issue.

When I received the sub it was reading 20-26 ohms....I hooked it to my home receiver and played it at low volume for 30 seconds or so and re tested. It then read 7.6 ohms. I was told the tinsels inside the dust cap were probably about to break and sure enough within 30 minutes it was dead. This was at moderate volume in a box built to spec.

Ive had it at a speaker shop and the guy thinks the coil wire broke at the bottom of the neck. Also credence no longer sells the soft parts so a recone with the proper stuff is out of the question.

Anyway, as for your accusation of me clipping the amp and burning up the speaker that is not the case.....but glad your willing to assume shit...

Round holes.....these were two of the old school S10C's in MINT condition which is why I was so pissed when one died.

Those were nice, true classics.. Just tell him to keep the 75 and you'll keep the good sub. If he want's the blown one and the box back have him pay shipping.

I just wanted to make sure I wasnt being unreasonable on this. He is acting like im fucking him by not returning the stuff.....the way I see it is hes making out with more money than he wanted to begin with but hes wanting even more.....and expecting me to eat the 75 and cover return shipping is complete BS.....

as for the subs I agree.....they are definitely some of kickers best...
