they are essentially DD type drivers (the previous hd3 was basically a 9500 motor without the cooling passages. this new one im not sure, but i am willing to bet its very similar as well). the company is owned by the father of the owner of Digital Designs, so they are definitely backed by some good people.

this woofer is more spl based, but works just fine for a daily driver IMO.

btw, the current woofers are the upgraded ones with the aluminum coil. essentially you are getting the upgraded HDC for the regular hdc price (at least until the copper coil hdc arrives in feburary)

good shit. there is a guy here by the name of jeremiah who visits this board occasionally. he ran 4 hd12's off 4 memphis 4kw. so as you can see, you should have some options in the future should you choose to add more power.

the lowend isnt as strong with the 38hz tuning, even though its breaking in slowly (suppose to improve, but we'll see. doesn't seem like it is getting all that much better), and the noise that i was hearing seems to be slowly going away as well (if you've seen my thread, you'll know what im talking about), but over all, i would take the hdc over the btl anyday of the week. thats sad too, because i really like the btl as well. i just think the hdc is a better value. you can get a new hdc15 for less than you can get a used btl.

edit: i also think the hdc is a little bit more efficient than my btl was

No real experience with the BTLs, but I've heard the older HD's from AudioQue.

And I have a new HDC12 sitting in the floor

Two AudioQue's would be great, and that would be the route I'd personally go

i have a btl 12 sitting here on the floor but dk if im gonna try it. kinda wanted a 15 again.. have u metered it yet, and i assume the hdc was louder correct?

i would go for a pair of hdc from audioque.

Do it, support audioque.

That and the Kicker L7. Probly gonna get hated on for saying that, but it takes 1kw rms.
