Gonna build a large fiberglass box, I'm going to build it into my trunk, it maybe up to 20 cubic feet in size.
It needs to bond to wood, but not my trunk. (incase I ever need to remove it)
It needs to be strong.
It needs to be smooth so I can paint it with a black paint and have it look "perfect".
So, with that in mind, here is what I am looking for from this site (they're located about 150 miles away): http://www.shopmaninc.com/
To start with, on this page ( http://uscomposites.com/mat.html ) I was looking for the right size of fiberglass I should get...with the idea of using epoxy resin so that it bonds to wood well.
I thought 3/4 ounces per sq foot/6.75 ounces per square yard was good, right? How many yards do you think I'll need for the 20 cube box?
Next, the resin...( http://uscomposites.com/epoxy.html )
I am not sure what to get, but here's a picture, I'm new but can learn fast, I live in florida so it's hot, and wet, humidity outside is like 70-100% most of the time, on a "good" summer day.
I'd also be nice if it was easy to mix the resin and hardener so that there is little measuring.
I also don't know how many gallons to get.
After that, page " http://uscomposites.com/adhesives.html "
I was going to do a little carpeting in the trunk and thought about getting some #77 spray, yes no?
Also, page " http://uscomposites.com/fillers.html ", I need to make this sucker smooth, I was considering just buying bondo/primer and not worrying about mixing all that crap, but if it is a good idea I'll get some supplies so I can get a perfectly smooth finish for painting...I don't know where to go on this one...
Next, " http://uscomposites.com/solvents.html ", If for whatever reason I need some solvents, point me to how much of what I need for whatever!
Next, " http://www.shopmaninc.com/brushes.html ", Brushes, ah brushes...I was going to probably get a box or two of 1 1/2" brushes, 1 or 2 box of 1 1/2", yes no? And then a pack of squeegies.
Next, " http://www.shopmaninc.com/containers.html ", Bunch of containers, not sure what I'll need exactly, please tell me!
Next, " http://uscomposites.com/fgrollers.html ", Definitly need rollers to get air bubbles out, and recommendations?
Next, " http://www.shopmaninc.com/safety.html ", Do you think I need a respirator, or should I just get some dust masks, and gloves?
Thanks for the help guys.
