Box Ideas for Type R

I bought a 10 inch Alpine Type R last night and put it in a Q-Logic .65 cubic ft. box to see how it would do, and I'm not that happy with it. I'm looking for bass that hits hard, not bass that necessarily sounds loud.

Right now the sub hits hard only at loud volumes but I was lookin for more punch during normal listening levels. I listen to mostly rap and techno music so I've been reading that a ported box would be a good idea. Does anyone have any box ideas that will make the sub hit harder?

You could try like 1.5 ft^3 tuned at 34Hz or somewhere around there.

It'll give you a flatter response curve, but won't be as efficient as a ported box unless you go crazy with the tuning / net volume.

Not a bad suggestion. However, I've enjoyed my R's a bit more when they were tuned a little lower. Then again, this kid probably doesn't want low tuning.
