I need advice

Hi all,
my Toyota Prado (4Runner in US) originally had stock audio. The headunit was replaced and now is Pioneer WT3800NEX.
I need advice on speakers.
Originally it had stock Toyota speakers, nothing fancy,
I replaced them with Focal TOY 6x9 component in front doors and Focal TOY 165 coax in rear doors.
I added recently Pioneer TS WX010A subwoofer. I used then with both and off HPF.

I wanted to have stronger vocal so I replaced the Focal tweeters with Pioneer TS-T736-2 tune-up tweeters.
Sound is not bad however it seems that Pioneer is overwhelming midbases which are still Focal TOYS.

Should I restore Focal tweeters back? Or leave Pioneer as it is?

Are you running everything off hu power? You might just need more power for your midbass tbh

Look at the original post. “HPF”. He had a tuning problem. Don’t speak curse at me.

What is meant by stating "I used then with both and off HPF?" My guess is, you have all your speakers on an amp with the HPF on. I'm assuming it's an HPF switch and not a dial.

If you have an amplifier for your speakers, I would keep the Focals. That head unit has EQ adjustments on it. Us the EQ to take down the mid-bass.

Thanks for replies! Let me deal with them in order.
1. Yes, I run them from aftermarket HU, Pioneer 3800. I believe it has sufficient power and I don't listen at high volume.
2. I tried all combinations of HPF on front (and tweeters - thats how Toyota speakers are wired) and LPF on subwoofer, sometimes on and sometimes off. I wanted clarity in vocals and crystal clear highs, with emphasided bass. I believe that Focal tweeters (aluminium) were good for highs but vocal were a bit dim. With Pioneer TS 736-2, which are like more full small speakers, rather than just tweeters, I get strong mids, which probably overpower Focal midbass woofers.
3. At the end, since subwoofer has a hardware crossover at 90, I turned off software LPF on the HU. I turned on HPF on doors speakers at 80.
4. EQ was very important. I turned down midsection and made it more like V eq preset, with mids down and bass and highs up. In Pioneer, this is Powerful present eq. I think it sounds the best now. I decided to keep Pioneer tweeters so far. Pioneer has even better tweeters but they are expensive (300 dollars). So I keep 150 dollar Pioneer tweeters TS-736-2.

With this EQ adjustment, sound is quite good, especially male voices. Female are not as good but OK in general. I get good bass and good highs.

As I listened to Pioneer for few months now, weird thing I forgot how Focal sounded. Pioneer I think, has better voices, Focal probably instruments. Anyway, as I am not inclined to change tweeters back again, here my final setup:
1. Subwoover Pioneer TS-WX010A
2. 6.5 inch speakers in door - Focal Toy
3. Tweeters Pioneer Pioneer TS-T736-2 tune-up tweeters.

Honestly, I am happy with the sound and not going to change anything, bass is good, voices are good, instruments sound fine. As all of them I installed myself, I don't want to disassemble panels again

I think I did as you advised. Also, tweeters and woofers have hardware freq separation modules, so software LPF and HPF are probably best turned off

That set of Carrozzeria tune up Pioneer 29mm alloy tweeters are pretty decent when tuned correctly. They are the same as the "Z" series tweeters in the U.S. component sets. As for using the passive versus active crossovers, depending on which crossovers you are talking about, it can make a very big difference on those tweeters. You could use a combination of passives and actives for midbass too.

That tweeter can get a bit unruly if not tamed/tuned correctly - the focal too.

The crossover that comes with the Pioneer TS-Z65CH is a lot better sounding than the ones that come with the the TS-Z65, and it is quite noticeable.

Crossover Frequency. 4500 Hz (Acoustic), 1900 Hz (Electric) is what pioneer indicates, I assume the electronic one is 24 Db,

My experience with them at 12 db is around 4k, so close to what they indicate. If you can cross them, electronically, at 12 db, 4-4.5K, that would be best. It's rare that p assives will sound better.
