i said it was the only reasonable reply. not a solution to the problem. Shit happens. but by the time you need a gun it's too late. and if you're looking for a type of self defense then I think Krav Ma Ga(sp?) does a lot of weapons disabling and such.

This sucks. If I where carrying, I probably still would not have carried into the Wal-Mart, so my gun would have got jacked too. There is nothing you can do about scumbags. He could have jacked you with a knife, and believe me being "knife whipped" at the end may not have turned out very well either. Worse, it may have made you braver.

Can anyone here comment on the stringency of Mexican firearm laws as compared to US laws? From what I am reading, Mexico seems to be more lax in basically every respect except for CCW.

For the original question, Krav Maga is probably a good option. It is dirty as shit, but is what you want for protection, particularly in close.
