Well, seeing that preseason games started yesterday I figured it would be a decent time to start up the thread.

It should be an interesting year for sure, the Wings seemed to only get stronger in the offseason by signing Hossa and Ty Conklin, they should have a great year. Now on to the discussion.

Well, I should saynot a pro fan. We went to ~8 a year when our semi pro team was here. Mainly for socializing but we enjoyed the action.

Wings have a very good chance to go back-to-back this year. That would be great to see again.

Not much love for the NHL? The lack of quality goaltending and defense on the Wings concerns me.

good thing they are an offensive powerhouse to be rekoned with, or We'd be screwed! Its not the goaltending, its the defense thats lacking. Neither goaltender has let in many weak goals.

The problem is, that kind of play doesn't translate in the playoffs. At least Hossa has been as good as advertised.

Yea the defense has been lacking, and they are still winning games. Once the defense gets in gear they should be pretty **** good.

Hossa has been as good or better than advertised, and actually helped more than just by adding a star player... he allowed Babcock to split up Datsyuk and Zetterberg as well.

Osgood has what... 3 cups now? Obviously they have the goaltending there... it's still somewhat early in the season. Lidstrom is probably one of the best defensemen in the league, Rafalski has been top tier now for awhile as well. Kronwall and Stuart are their rough-em-up defense.... and I don't even know who the hell is on 3rd line defense anymore... hell Meech is playing forward lately.

Chelios is playing up in Grand Rapids and should be ready for some NHL ice time soon. I just can't wait till the playoffs

Detroit has a solid team, though I don't think they're quite as solid as they were last year.

We need Luongo back.

The issue with the wings is that they're not trying their hardest game after game and they don't give 100% performance in every period. Their b game is good enough for most teams and their A game is unstoppable, they just need to find it again.

At this point I almost want to keep Hossa over Zetterberg.
