I need a pair of GOOD 8" subs with a 4 inch mounting depth. Do they exist?

Greetings //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I am in the process of re-doing the stereo in my GMC Syclone (basically a 91 S10 standard cab body with a little extra muscle), and need some input on Subs. The previous owner installed two 8" pyramid subs upright in between the seats, and while I like the placement, I would like to replace the subs and amp with something a lot nicer.

I have attached pics of what I currently have.

(No dirt comments please. Car just came out of being in a shop for 5 years, so it's a long process trying to get it shined back up //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif )

The biggest challenge that I see is the 4" mounting depth on the subs. I have an old school Xtant 1001dx that I have been holding on for a project, so if there are a high powered set of shallow mount 8's out there, I would love to get my hands on them. Otherwise, I will go with the best ones I can find that will fit, and find the right amp for the setup. I will be building the sub mounts and box to be easily removable, as the primary purpose of the truck is to race, and weight is the enemy //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Oh, and the changer and the red vinyl will be exiting the vehicle during the face-lift. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Thanks in advance!

Ive been thinking about selling my Buick Grand National and geting one of those trucks....I'm not sure of the mounting depth but....check into the Critical MASS SS82's....if they will fit....you will love them....they are single 2 ohm rated at 500rms each but can take more and work great in small sealed enclousures...the CM's are far ahead of their time

I had a GN before I bought the Syclone. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Having owned both, I can help you a bit with the decision.

- Do you feel that your current car (GN) is entirely too reliable, and spends too much time in drivable condition?

- Do you feel like parts for the GN are too affordable and easy to obtain?

- Do you find that the part of a vehicle that appeals to you the most are the jackstands holding it up?

If you answered yes to those questions, then Syclone or Typhoon ownership is for you! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

As for the sub you mentioned, they look awesome, but I suspect the mounting depth will be way more than 4" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

LOL...i just like the thought of th truck bed...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I do wish they came in an exteded cab version though...now that would've been too sweet //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

So the cadence subs are single voice coil, which means (unless I'm misunderstand something) I can only run a pair of them down to 2 ohm, leaving half the power of the Xtant on the table. So I am looking for any other ideas that will allow me to use the full power of the Xtant I have and not have to buy a new amp, so I can spend more on making the truck fast //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

i have 2 brand new rockford fosgate he2 8s. dual 4 ohm, pm me please //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif lets do this. there 4.5 inches mounting depth though

CDT Audio HD800CF 8" 200W RMS 400W PeakTwo of these could be wired for a 0.5 ohm load or a 2 ohm load. With that Xtant 1001dx I would try it at 2 ohms.
I'm working on getting an opinion of what the true output of the Xtant is @ 2 ohm, but if the output is what some of the posts I found claim (1000w or pretty close), wouldn't it overrun those subs? At 2 ohms, wouldn't I be better off with the cadence subs?

Sorry if I'm missing something obvious. Car audio stuff is pretty new for me. I'm used to just trying to make them fast, not sound good //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
