We dont like having to set the level so high to get the propper voltage, the cleaner signal the better,

...i have heard aux in can cause clipping because the ipod headphone-out creates clipping at 0db...

I've done alot of installs with aux/usb ipod conns, neither have ever affected any part of the audio system, and i've done some cheap @$$ deck installs (dual, insignia, etc..) while I worked @ bb.

who told you that it would? or where did you read this?

Stop what you are doing. Go and see Dave Oakley at Andre's down on Harvey Ave. and get a good cd player from him. He is the only person and I mean only credible person in Kelowna with the background to deliver on exactly what you need without running to a forum and asking random people for answers.
