I need a HU suggestion

I'm looking for something with a very good reputation, as many pre-amp outputs as possible and MP3 disk readable. I dont know if its important to know the plan or not, but I will be replacing my front 6.5" speakers with a component set in the stock door location and adding a tweeter as well. The rears will be some 6x9's and the 12" sub in the trunk box. So nothing too fancy really. I wanted to use my existing HU but it only has RCA outputs for a sub channel. No good! So any advice would be very helpful. Thanks! -Dan

Sorry yea shoulda said something about budget. I dont really know yet, Im not paying for a big fancy $300+ model of anything because it just needs the basics I mentioned above. I paid $220 for my current Pioneer when it was nearly new and it has LOTS of options that are probably standard on most lower models now since mine is 4 years old. So I guess under $200 would be a good place to start. Thanks for the recommendation as well, I will look into it.

Are you buying authorized from a local dealer or online? In that price range I would sugguest an Alpine 9847, Kenwood KDC MP4028 and Pioneer DEH-P670MP. They are all great units, the Pioneer is a tad over your 200$ cap (assuming you get it authorized at retail) but it adds a two year warranty and a nice display. It also has 3 sets of pre-amp outs.

well even if the motor goes out i will still have the sound and **** it sounds nice

Yeah, I doubt if you can get a 7998 with your budget... but I've owned mine for a while now, and a 7897 before it... and umm, the novelty doesn't wear off. It amazes me every time I turn it up.

You can afford a 7995 though! I just put one in my gf's car, and ****!

Since I have a pioneer right now it would be easiest to buy a newer one similar that matched my wiring harness in the back. Granted it only takes a few minutes to snip and cut wires but Ive had my current mp7400 for 4 years and never had a problem. Im looking into the Pioneer DEH-P7700MP and Kenwood kdc-mp4028. Both can be had for less than $150 on ebay with warranty. So thats looking pretty attractice to me.

Yeah I mean if you dig pioneer then do it up. I owned a pioneer DEH.. ... yeah I can't remember what. It had dolphins and race cars and lots of gay stuff. That stuff did it for me whan I was 18 and driving a corvette... not so much anymore. I built my current system with a no-nonsense "all business" approach.

The 7998 and 7995 would be wasted on many systems...

Oh, and you need an external speaker amp -- but you were doing that anyways. Seriously though, the 7995 owns for the price. I paid 200 CDN for it... which is like 165~ US? I have no idea what it retailed for when new, but it was worth it.

OK thanks for the suggestions, I will look into that as well. I have that gay pioneer with the racecars and dolphins haha. I liked it for about 2 hours then it was just gay. I use the digital gauge thing instead of the movie screens. But anyway its been good to me but I need 3 pre-outs.

BTW, Nice A4. Ive always loved the S4 & A4 body style and would looove to have a german car. BUT no mula so I can live with what I have.

Thanks for the kind words regarding the A4... It's been a long time coming. I've owned a lot of domestic sports cars... I am happiest with the a4 though. So you know upfront, those ebay players do not come with the manufacturers warranty, if you care about that. Do you like the single knob or the 670 style better?
