Well I need a new camera anyways , but I want something that I can use to analyze my golf and bowling swing.. For both sports I plan on taking a bunch of video from different angles then viewing them on the computer in slow motion.. I know Actual video cameras are better and nowadays not much more expensive than a digital camera but I still cant just throw one in my pocket ..

So what is needed for me to be able to take a Hi quality video ? Is it FPS, a certain zoom, I really dont know,..

Oh and Im trying to keep the cost under 300, Unless there is something that really is leaps and bounds above the rest of the pack.. Heres one I was looking at, but dont know what alot of the specs mean

Canon - PowerShot 14.1-Megapixel Digital Camera - Silver - SD1400 Silver

That camera maxes at 720p at 30fps. The bit rate (~

Look for something with 60i and a better bit rate. If the codec is H.264 the average internet compression is around 8Mbps for 720p if that helps. My camera shoots 720p at 24Mbps.

Got your winner right here:
Sony DSC-TX7

You won't find anything better than that in your price range.

Great find man, Thanks.. Thats a great quality video for a point and shoot... Just found it at best buy .. I might wait til this one goes on sale, since BB usually has sales on all these every few weeks or so.. Im sure its only gonna drop to MAYBE $349 since its brand new but it looks great.. Another one I was looking at that reaaaallly looks nice is this one.. So what do you think the Sony TX-7 or this

PowerShot SD3500 IS Digital Camera

Pretty much the same as the first camera you posted. You will not find a better P&S right now. I have DSLR's and that Sony makes me want to buy one.

gotcha.. So what is gonna make the sony better? its 1080i@ 60 or 30 fps , but as far as using it for taking vids of my swing , then into some program to run slo mo how is it gonna be better, or what I guess will make it better

60fps is 2x more than 30fps which pretty much means you have twice as many frames to stretch. It also gives you less motion-blur. The bit rate on the Sony is a lot higher which means a much cleaner original source.

Cinematic movies are 24fps.

2 final things.. I thought the higher the frame rate the better, But standard HD ( up to 1080i ) Is shot in 60 FPS, while full HD Like blu ray in 1080p @ 24 FPS , This has always confused me

reading the comments on the sony in the vid you posted ppl are having issues in putting it on to a computer @ the 1080i 60 FPS rate, because it does not transfer as a MP4, But 1080i @ 30 FPS does... Will this affect how it looks, considering MP4 Im assuming is the highest quality format?

If you have a second, just read the comments on this one

Read my post above. Movies are 24fps. fps doesn't effect quality in terms of a better picture, it only effects motion blur, etc.

Without looking, I'll assume the i in 60i (interlaced) is what's confusing them. The format is still AVCHD (same quality) it just hasn't been deinterlaced yet. You'll need something like VLC to watch the files raw.

Thanks man. Yea the issue ppl were havng was 1080i @ 60 fps viewing which was in the different format. 1080i @ 30 fps worked fine and transferred with mp4. I'm sure it's simple to figure out but thought I would ask in here since you guys know alot more than most The dipshits at bb had no idea and told me shit that was on the price/ info tag. Like I couldn't see that myself u morons.
