with all the dynamat i've added recently, it sounds much better. maybe when i have money again ill want to upgrade, but its good for now

I have an sundown sa-8v1 d4 brand new recone can build a nice custom box for it as well sub and box to your door would be right at about $265 plenty left for a good quality amp.

Question, was this a factory pioneer sub and box? or a custom box, if not a factory box and sub, does the sub have enough cubic feet for better bass? How many watts does the amp deliver to the sub? If room is an issue, you may want to stick to a shallow sub, maybe a 10 inch and a box that has over the minimum space needed. Most people and even factory specs ask for a box volume that tends to be the minimum volume given as the maximum volume by the manufacturer. Just a thought rather than spending more money.
