I Made My Mind, But Have One More Question About Hifonics and Re Audio. HELP!!!

Hold on a second.

OP - maybe I'm misunderstanding you but it seems as though you're under the influence that hte subwoofers will "only draw" 600w per woofer. That is not how it works.

And that amp will do more than 1200w rms at 1ohm. Should be closer to 1400-1500 I'd say.

And that 1606d is just fine and dandy for two SE's.

im gettin that same setup.RE SEs with a Bxi2008D amp.

it puts out 1300W RMS @ 2 ohms

and 2000W RMS @ 1 ohm

since they are 4 ohm subs, how can u wire them. i have never owned DVC coils. but i will be researchin before they come in.
Well i know for a fact you can wire the 2- 4ohm subs down to 1ohm. This will help you out.

http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftech/woofer_wizard.asp?submitted=true&woofer_qty=2&woofer_imp=4

I just dont know what amp to get though. The BXI1608D is 1600 watts rms @ 1ohm stable amp. The BXI2008D is 2000 watts rms @ 1ohm stable. The subs we want combine need 1200 watts rms.

A little power is ok i know but with the BXI2008D it would be an extra 600 watts rms on the subs! Sounds like a lot of extra power. As the BXI1608D would only be giving the subs an extra 400 watts rms.

So you would say the BXI1608D over the BXI2008D for these subs?

I've heard from ppl in the past though that say Hifonics amps are sometimes over rated.

BTW you seem like you know what your talking about. How much extra power is really to much for subwoofers???

Thanks man!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Yea i thought the same. But idk just lettn ya know. I think they had good feedback but who knows...

You sayn that the amp is a "cheap"(piece of crap) amp or just a good amp for the money
Good for the money. Let's say at 75% of it's rating it puts out solid clean power...a 1500 watt mono amp (that realistically can do easily 1600+) for like 250-300 shipped brand new with warranty...not a lot of amps can match that power for the money

True true. The price is what caught my eye with these amps

Since I haven't seen a whole lot of direct assistance, I'll try to answer a few questions.

The BXI1608D will be just fine for those subs. You'll be putting 800w RMS through each of them, and that is more than they're rated for. However, the subs themselves are underrated. They should be able to handle 800 RMS apiece fine.

A second thing - you can control the amount of power going to the subs by controlling the gain. If you set the gains correctly (search for how to do it), you can put the exact amount of power you want through them. Including putting just rated power through them.

And - the newer hifonics amps, the 2008 models, are all rated correctly, afaik. It'll put out 1600w RMS for you. No need to go more - you'll already push the subs as much as you can.

Does anyone have any test results on the new Hifonics line? From what I remember, the old Hifonics 1 ohm power rating was a pipe dream at best, generally doing 30% LESS than rated power.

Someone recently put a thread on his tests of the new '08 models, and the ones he tested were all doing rated power, while the '07 and older were slightly overrated.

I only say that because I watched a Bxi 1608D top out @ 800 watts RMS @ 2 ohms falling a tad bit shy of the 1,100 watts promised @ 2 ohms.

ETA: This all started when I told one of my installer buddies that I was thinking about getting a Hifonics XXV Colossus. He proceeded to tell me they (meaning ALL Hifonics) were junk then invited me over for a demo of the BXi that he had at his shop. I don't know if that has anything to do with the XXV, but I am less than impressed with the BXi 1608 that he had. OK for its price is about all I have to say...
