Monte Carlo SS now!
I received my Alpine type r 6 3/4 components today and alpine type r 6x9's. I got both shipped to me for 210 from ikesound.com... Before i had cadence cm6 kit 6.5 in the front and pioneer rev 6x9 in the rear. after my installation that i just finished. I am actually blown away on how well the components are, i read lots of threads saying that they **** and the tweets are to high... All i did was open up the crossover and lower the tweeter freq level. and i have my alpine 9853 set at 80 hz. and my car bumps like a mofo with good crisp clean sound. I have a monte carlo 2000 ss. each door is getting 100 rms. and it bangs like a *****. The rear speakers the 6x9's are unbeleivably better then the rev's by far and i only paid 80 bux for them. I made some 6 3/4 baffel rings and made sure the 6x9's were sealed off in there chamber in the rear seat head room. So those searching for some decent comps. that dont cost a left testicle. get these for 125 and slam away.

Hey Exploder-

Iam contemplating the same install with the type R's today, and I have a 2005 Monte.

Did you do anything special to the doors when installing the 6.5's? and how did you seal off the 6x9's?

I am hoping for a miracle with a set of components in front and a little 6x9 rear fill. The factory setup with an aftermarket HU sounds so muted, muddy and distorted. I'll have a sub x 400 watts and 65x4 to the front and back.

I am going to best buy to take 2 sets of 6.5 RF components back because I'm affraid they'll sound like ####. I think I'll go with the R's if they sound good when I go. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Excellent! Good to hear . I have yet to hear anything from Alpine not sound good.

If its sounds terrible then theres something def wrong.

Could You elaborate on what you did to seal and deaden for these speakers?

I also have a monte and the same alpine speakers, and was toying with the idea of constructing enclosures under the rear deck, and somehow creating enclosures in the door.

I want tight, loud responsive sound out of these for a good addition to my sub.

First off, i made a 6x9 1/2 spacer. so it sits up a little higher. Then, i got some 1/8 of an inch foam, cut out a 6x9 oval shape. mathched it up. and then screwed down the 6x9's. Under the rear hatch, where the 6x9 magnets where, I covered the 15-20 gaping holes with fatmat. the door panels. I made my own fiberglass speaker pod to fit in the doors with a sealed enclosure. the 6x9's are ran off the head unit, alpine 9853. and its surely loud enough, if you have subs, basically 6x9;s get drounded out anyways.

I would be interested in the details of the fiberglass pods you made in your doors.

Pics are always nice too.

I have been trying to tune my system the last couple of days. I am definitely impressed with the Alpine-R's. I didn't think I could fill all the space in this Monte Carlo, but it seems to be shaping up nicely now.

I blew up my RF-P3 12" yesterday though:(.

the factory speaker holder for the door, i just made a sealed circular pod around the back, sealed it off. its actually very proffesional looking, and only took about 2 days to accomplish. pm me if you want pics or something
