i finally have my heart set on a pioneer avh p4300dvd my only problem is i see no signs of it being able to fit in my 2000 ford explorer xlt. any sure way to tell before i spend all the money and hoping it fits? or is there a vehicle specific harness ill need?

if its a double din and your car wont accept it then no its not going to fit without some extensive modification to your dash. But I dont know much about those dashes. Maybe buck can chime in on this matter, I think he's got an exploder about that year.

well the factory head unit thats int here now is just a ahir shy of 7 inches wide by a hair shy of 4 inches tall... to me thats a double din but some people on here said its a 1.5 din..

Din is roughly 2" x 7 1/8", so a 3" height would equal a din and a half. I know you want it to be a double din, but the plain fact is, it isn't by your given measurements. You seem to keep asking, how do we know, WE KNOW! That's what you asked, sorry if it's not the answer you were hoping for.

Can one modify it, yea, possibly. My truck is a din and a half too, but I was able to modify mine to fit a double din.

how do you know? to me the measurements cant lie if it big enough to fit, then it will fit. you cant change math...
Apparently you're trying to. Just go get a saws-all and start cutting. We'll stop helping now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
