What I find the funniest is the goverment says that this increase is normal and just following our inflation, in fact our inflation is up about 4% since last year. lets see here, last years gas average $3.00, this years is to be $4.00. Is that a 4% increase?

Gas companies get away with what ever they want, is it there fault they make money, I would say it is the persons policing their pricing and decisions. Right now BP and Shell could go up to $14.00 a gallon like fualkton would like it and nothing would be done. Maybe someday we will have a president that doesnt have a fleshy patch where his nuts used to be.

Gouging is illegal.

Supply and demand is not.

The US Dollar is also worth alot less than it was now. Guess what that means for *imported* oil? Yep, it costs more dollars to get.

Honestly, I don't know what you are trying to accomplish with that. The thing is, I admit I did that, I also admit it was very stupid. However, It has been a very long time since I did that, 2 years or more now. I am willing to let it be known I did it, because I have overcome it. If you don't think I'm allowed to make econimical analysis because of it, you need to get a clue. Just because I did that a long time ago, and was stupid at the time, it doesn't mean that I don't know what I am talking about. I can post my own opinions if I want to. It doesn't bother me that you have the in your sig, for the simple reason that I am passed that point in my life. I am 19 now, and I am working on building a nice future. I just don't see your point in trying to bring me down because of it. We all make stupid choices in life. That was one of mine (out of many). What makes us stand out is if we recongnize the problem and fix it. That what I was able to do, and for you to say I'm not allowed to say anything about this, you need to shut up. Economical talk has nothing to do with that anyways. Not only do I not do that anymore, I also let people know it is wrong and not to do it (as you have in the quote in your sig).

That is true. Thats one place our government could step in. It might be illegal by law, but it is not enforced like it should be.

Our reserves have over 40 years of crude oil and petroleum stored and we haven't even taped into Alaska yet because of our truce with Saudi Arabia.

It's not so much Saudi Arabia, as we don't buy oil only from them FYI. More of the red-tape that would be needed to construct the oil drilling / refining process in Alaska, and all the stupid Tree huggers that don't want us to tear up our land. I bet some of them are the same pricks b*tching about high prices...

Duh..... it is also one of the most used products on the face of the earth... no sh*t they are turning record profits, look at how much they sell you idiot. It's not just the price. It costs alot more now to produce efficient gasoline (with all our EPA laws and sh*t) than it did 20 years ago so no kidding they are going to charge more.

I swear some people that start and post in these type of threads need to take ECON 101.
