I am going to need some power

I am in the process of purchasing pre-made door panels direct from Germany. http://www.jehnert.com/en/ They are for a 1990 Mercedes Benz 300CE. The panels come loaded with 4 MB Quart 6.5" Midbass and a 4" component for the dash. So I am looking at powering the set of components and EIGHT freaking midbass. Naturally, a sub will be coming, but money demands I do this in stages. What should I be looking for to run all this up to its capaticy? Sure, brands and models would bew great, but I am just looking for the basic specs too.

Thanks fellas.

I would get an amp for the mid bass's and a seperate one for the comp's. I have 100w rms going to each speaker I have, even my 4"er's. It will depend on how loud you want to go. Me, I would go with something like a 100w x 4 amp that would do 200w x 4 at 2ohms, and hook 2 mid bass's to each channel at 2ohms per channel and then get another amp (single channel at 2ohms or 2 channel at 4ohms) and use this for the comps. You could tone it down and go for something like 50w or 75 watts to each speaker...whichever.

I actually was thinking about a 5 ch amp. (Bare with me, I am way new).

Hooking up the 8 midbass in 4 groups of 2, and keeping the comps seperate, so I would need:

xxxWatts X 4@2ohm (midbass)

xxxWatts X 1@4ohm (comps)

I know a typical setup for a 5ch is 2ch for the front 2ch for the rear, and 1 ch for a sub, but would this work?

So for a 6ch, would I do this?...

xxxWatts X 4@2ohm (midbass)

xxxWatts X 2@2ohm (comps)

Would that even make more sense?

Thanks for the input.

for a killer cost effective amp to get the job done very well the Soundstream TR800/5

Wll now ya confused me. Weren't you the guy suggesting the 6ch?

With the Soundstream, can you varry the ohms? In other words, if I run 4ch for the midbass @ 2ohm, does the 5th ch need to be 2ohm as well, or can I make that 4ohm.

Hell, I think I am confusing myself... (see earlier note about being new)

Thanks for the help, I am getting an education.

If you were to go with the 5 channel you would lose that stereo capability with the comps right? I know im right. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rotflol.gif.b453361716769b8110ddefc85ff03cd2.gif I would go with a 6 channel amp..just to get audiobahn in this post i would go with the audiobahn 6601 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

105w x 6

Or get the 6601 and the 3201 i believe. so you would have a channel for each speaker.

If you were to just get the 6601 i would config it so

channels 1 - 4

75w @ 4 ohm -> midbass

channels 5 - 6

105w @ 2 ohm -> comps (~50w each )

thats all you should really need to go loud and

clear with the components.

Thats what I needed to hear. Thanks bigred. I figured a 5ch was not the answer since that 5th ch is typically for a sub, but that explains it in Laymen's terms. I would lose sterio in my comps.

Dude, thanks for the lesson... Going 6ch amp shopping now!

Thanks for the help (and yea, I will go and look at the audiobahn...) everyone!

Late~

Umm....

Go ahead and get the 6 channel amp. But wouldn't you put channel 5 and 6 each to their own comp set making a 4ohm load per channel? They do have cross overs...right?

I just re-read the earlier suggestion w/ the audiobahn.

Hmmm, man I might be talking out of the side of my neck here, but I thought it would be the other way around too.

8 - 6.5" midbase speakers:

4 groups of 2, in series thus being 4 channels at 2ohms

2 - 4" comps:

2 channels at 4ohm

Is that right? Can you do this with a 6ch amp? 4@2ohm 2@4ohm?

Hell, am I even close?

Yep.

I have a 100w x 4 amp the 2 channels are at 2ohms and the other 2 are at 4ohms. I have 6 speakers off a 4 channel amp giving each one 100w.
