If you need gobs of headroom, that is where the Korean boards excell for sure. With the fullbridge units, you can make it up with extra power, to a point.

Well the plan now is to stay all RF amps, replace the Prime with a Punch 1000 OR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get the JP77 and run the whole show that way.

RF are good amps, bit overpriced in my book, but well made as are JL. But that Jp77 is a beast fo sho! Lots of great Korean board amplifiers out there, no reason to limit yourself to one brand.

True. I do miss US Amps Barbara Ann. Man that thing sounded good!!!

Believe it or not, this 4 channel marine Soundstream Rubicon Nano sounds great too... Guess what, also a Korean amp.

It is sad that at 13.6v the Taramps will cut off and reset. There is no clipping at all and I back the gain off even further and it still cut off and reset in the mid 13v range.

Definitely worth checking into. If I recall, 9-16v is the range? Maybe that is the Smart BASS?

Id think something is going with the amp if it's resetting in the 13's. When I idle and run full tilt with techmaster running for a few tracks I drop down there with no problems

I've seen some interesting comparisons on the Smart and the Smart BASS for sub use, If I was to choose, thinking the SMART BASS would the Taramps I would consider.

Agree, sounds like the amp is requesting to much current.

If you're wiring to .5 the bass version is the ticket but outside that it's half a dozen in one hand and six in the other kind of thing

I got the little BASS 400 on my test bench and it actually pounds the $hit out of a set of 12's and barely gets warm! Pretty amazing what these little things will do.

Have to remember only about a 4-5 db increase in volume from 1000 to 3000 watts, not a huge difference.
1000 to 2000 3db
2000 to 4000 another 3 db
4000 to 8000 another 3db

So, one has to go to 9000 watts to double the volume from 1000 watts, pretty steep hill to climb.

Maybe try backing your gain down some and see if it does it again. Personally I'm not sure how much I trust the clip light to be 100% accurate
