Whelp, last night i installed a used HU and it would turn on, but there would be no output from the speakers. I turned the car off, turned it back on about 5 minutes later, and now the HU wouldnt even turn on.

So, i went out and bought a BNIB HU and wired that up, and it wont turn on either.

I checked the radio fuse in the fusebox and its still good. HU fuse is good.

Im using stock power, ground, and speaker wire.

Any ideas? This is my sisters car and im leaving the state tomorrow, so time is of the essence.

remote, power, ground, and ignition wires are all crimped to stock connections.

Radio fuse is good in the fuse box under the dash

The only thing I know of...when Ive put in new cd players, I always had to push the power button to turn it on the first time. Other than that, check the wires in the harness with a dmm and make sure they are getting power.

i thought about that, but how would i do that with the harness? i did the beep test with a DMM on the one fus e( ill try to find an under-the-hood one), do i just put one end of the DMM on ground and then beep test the rest of the wires?

check fuse under hood. My car have a fuse that says radio #1 which is under the hood, and radio #2 which is under neath the steering wheel
the fusebox under the hood had no radio fuse //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

any other ideas?

test your constant 12 v/battery wire and your ignition/acc wire. The battery wire should always be a constant 12 v even though the car is not turn on while the ignition should read 12 v when the ignition is on. Probe the wire and ground it

check the constant, with the + of the dmm and ground the other - end of the dmm and it should read 12v. then on the switch wire put the + on it and put the - on a ground, and the switch wire should read 12 v when the power is on in the car. Make sure you check with a metal ground, not the ground wire, hence it could be the ground wire is bad, probably not but always a possibility.

The fuse under the hood usually is not listed to as a radio fuse. Its usually on an ignition circuit of some kind.

You have a dmm. First check power at the yellow and red wires at the harness with the key on. If you are getting power at the red wire but not the yellow than most likely the fuse will be under the hood.

The beeping test you are talking about is a continuity test. You hold a lead on each side of the fuse and if it beeps the fuse is good.

with the battery constant and ground, i would get a quick beep, for about 1/16th of a second, but thats it.... it wouldnt continuously beep, like if you were to just touch the pos and neg terminals on the DMM together.
