HU Recommendation

Hello all,

I'm new to the forums here. Recently my old pioneer HU decided to break down and I have been looking around for a new one. I quickly realized how long I have been out of the car audio loop. I was hoping I could get a few recommendations from more knowledgeable people, based on my current system setup (IE. a HU that would be an appropriate match). I guess I will start with what I have and a couple things I am looking for. I originally had a Pioneer DEH-P3600 HU. I have a PG Xenon X100.4 driving MB Quart RCE-216's and a PG Xenon X600.1 driving a 10" Alpine Type-X sub. A couple things I am looking for in a new HU is built in ipod integration AND a cd player. Also, 3 sets of preouts would be nice, though I think this is standard these days. SQ is also decently important to me. Any ideas you guys could send my way would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Alpine 9886 or 9887, CD Player, really nice display, GREAT iPod integration and it comes with the cable (charges it as well), 4 V Pre-Outs (all three), subwoofer control, and Alpines SQ is second to none! If you want active control then the 9887 is the one to go with, if you are OK, with HPF control, sub control, bass, and treble then the 9886 is the one. The 9886 is 300 retail, the 9887 is 450 retail (i think)

Probably no more than a few hundred bucks. Any other suggestions than a pioneer or alpine? Not that I have anything against either of them (I have been happy with both of their products in the past), I'm just curious if there are popular alternatives.

My 9887 didn't come with an iPod cable... at least I don't think it did //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/verymad.gif.3f39c5c2fd57527b671fad3efdfac756.gif

Eclipse headunits have been all the rage lately, not sure if they have good iPod integration or not but look into them.

If I had it to do again Id take about 4-500 bucks and get the best Eclipse I can get. High voltage outputs and good equalizers. Don't get me wrong I think Alpine is great but I think Eclipse for the extra money has features that make it a better starting point for an SQ system.

Watch out though because some of those eclipse have REALLY high Pre-outs (Like 16 V sometimes) and you need their amps that can accept 16 V, most amps only accept up to 8 V.
