HU qualities...voltage or S/N?

Neither are really anything to base your selection on...but out of the two, I'd say that S/N is one you can ignore.

Once you get over the S/N of the format, it won't make a shred of difference...

oh, i was just wondering cuz the guy from alpine at the dub car show was talking about nothing else mattered and how alpine was better than pioneer because of the s/n. i know he was biased but it made me wonder how important that really was.

With very few (though notable) exceptions no matter what the top voltage rating is on the RCA preouts for any given HU you'd not see that much current coming out of them excepting at full-bore volume running a test tone.

It's much less important than many people give it credit for.

Not unimportant, mind you, just not nearly so crucial as some folks would lead you to believe.

Any differences in preout voltage can be made up with an external line driver anyway...want a solid 8V going to your processors/amps? Easy to do regardless of what head unit you like //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Buy a head unit based on features you'll use, not specs you won't notice.
