HU Install Question

I installed my HU, but my car doesnt gave a black ground wire for the hardness so i wraped it around a old metal ground wire that goes to engine from my bros old cassete player when it was his car. My question is, like when i listen to the radio alot of channels get lots of static. Its not really clear, pleaze help!

when you wrapped the ground wire did you put electrical tape around the wire?? next check the rca's... then the speaker wire.. anything that is spliced together, make sure you put electrical tape around it... or those little plastic "tips"
