HU install in a 95 Maxima with Bose

I need your help, installers. I have a friend with a 1995 Maxima with the Bose sound system, and the radio has pretty much gone out. Hrm, it's only 15 years old. Anyhow, what are the steps involved in integrating an aftermarket hu with the Bose system? It's the one where each speaker has a little amp on it.

May I add on a couple of questions to this thread?

I have a 97 Nissan Maxima in which I am replacing the stereo. I wasn't looking for high end stuff, just something in which I could still play cassettes and that had an aux in to plug in my iphone. I picked up an aiwa AIWA CT-X417YU cassette unit off of ebay. I was hoping to install it in the existing brackets. Used http://www.drinstall.com that was really helpful. The problem I am finding is that I am not sure how to work out getting the unit in there. It would seem that even if I did remove the front piece that holds the removable faceplate and secure the unit to the existing brackets, once I put the front plastic A/C/radio bezel back on I don't believe the front piece would be able to fit back on.

Another option would be to trim off some of the front A/C/radio bezel and slip the whole unit in through the front. Either way that front piece will stick out at least 3/4". Has anyone drilled their own holes in the head units to make it work with the existing bracket and screws?

Also, in regards to the amp integration harness(70-7551). I notice the one set of wires ends with a black and white rca plug while the other ends with purple and green. The back of the Aiwa has 2 rca inputs, red and white. How do I make that work?

I know that I also need to pick up an antenna adapter.

Is all this doable with this unit or should I just sell this thing and look for something else? Any suggestions?

thanks,

Mark
